How/why is that not 'Ip Man' HK...? Also biu might be just as/more effective/safe, also maybe a little turn into the attack?

in other words, there must be a Tan for swing, Tan for back fist, Tan for uppercut, Tan for elbow strike, Tan for knee, .......can you do a video on how you can successful judge what is coming at you in split 2nd. ....can you do a vid where you don't cal for the punch when, where and how you successfully guess what to use !! thanks in advance, can't wait for your Tan Sau de jour !!

@@outofthebox7 you r right, I can't either, BUT a lot of people do not realize the real wc way that would obviate the need to guess at all. Totally take the guessing gain out.

Sifu, thanks for this video. But 1 thing, what is this "Vertical rolling force" you're talking in your 3rd Tan Sau explanation? I'm trying to conceptualise it in my head but can't seem to do it.
@Simon2k173 жыл бұрын
Forward belly roll. Best way to explain it.. lay in bed, put your cell phone in your belly and try throw it off. Once understand the mechanics, stand up, do that same action, but with a strike. Best example would be the forward greet in Bak Mei kungfu. The opening move. Pro tip, once you understand basic internal power by stretching out the spine, that vertical roll becomes alot more powerful.

Adam if there were two very good wing chun practioners, that weren't friends, how would they fight, would they just get in a sticky hand loop, forever, or would they intercepting fist each other at the start. Or just stand off in a lap sau stance 🤔

Would this work for someone that snaps there punches really quickly. Like a really good boxer. Its very interesting for most situations. But in a fight with a boxer, I don't think it will work.
@filmawayvlad3 жыл бұрын
We say in Russia in Win Chun practice: don’t box with a boxer and don’t wrestle with a wrestler, i.e., we do everything possible to avoid competing within technique of the opponent
@MustAfaalik2 жыл бұрын
@Emil. Correct. It is not meant for jabs/snappy punches but certain situations as per Si Fu.
@jestfullgremblim8002 Жыл бұрын
It's a very ocasional thing, i wouldn't recomed it unless you are very good and also better than your opponent, but if that were the case, there would be way more techniques for that. Tan Sao was never meant to be that kind of block, so of course it isn't that good for that

Tan doesnt really work for that high and powerful hook punch. Turning it to a Biu São works for attacks to the head

How could a shorter person succeed against a taller opponent in sparring, tournaments or self defense street fight
@jestfullgremblim8002 Жыл бұрын
Usually being better than them and more self aware. If both know the same technques and both have the same skill level, the stronger, bigger person will win. There are certain strategies that can help against a stronger/bigger opponent, but just like everything in martial arts, they might not work! If you feel interested do tell me, if there's one specific thing you are having problem with, you can also ask me out.
