Off Grid Cabin Lighting- NO INVERTER! ***4K Video***

This was shot in 4k using my M50. The options are pretty much endless when it comes to lights in an off grid cabin and i thought i would share an option i just switched over to. Pretty simple to set up and rather inexpensive if you don't have or don't want to buy an inverter.

lots of options out there. Some expensive and some are pretty cheap. Just need to figure out what you are looking to do.

I miss my inside wood cook stove, all the trash we burned in it. Outdoor wood boiler now and I don’t run a paper trash in it. Burn it in a pile once and a while. 30 years ago it was difficult to source cheap efficient dc lighting.

Oh, there is nothing wrong with using regular 120 volt ac fixtures like a light switch to run your dc fixture. It is cheap and common, easy to get and work well and is neat.

off grid options are becoming more common and the prices are getting better each year.

@@AdamCraigOutdoors I hear that too. I was off grid for 20 years, hooked up to grid for 5 years now. I still have my equipment but the lead acid batteries are junk. Wish there was a fresh battery technology coming along, affordable and longer service than the 100 year old lead acid technology. Teslar stuff I guess but it seems out of cost.

The best thing is to use residential 12 volt Less instead of car one because the car lights die too quickly.

i agree. Deep cycle are better and 6v would also work when joined together in series.

@@AdamCraigOutdoors Also I used residential 12 G4 lamps which last very well, much better than car lamps. Car lamps are generally of low quality because they are not meant to be used a lot.

12 volt LED lights come in screw in E26 , so you can use lamps, chandeliers, sockets.
