Just a quick note: I can't recall if you mentioned the 10/12 min tune/adaptation in this video or another, but I was looking at a deal TSB about adaptations and it looks like what you're referring to is the "Off Idle Adaptation". Dealers can run a Fast or Standard Adaptation using their triumph diags software suite, but there is an Off Idle they can't run because it takes 12 min while riding at constant speed, so the TST told them to tell customers to do this on their own time, and I think that's where the lore of the 10 min tune came from, only it seems you gotta be moving. I'll quote form the service manual here: "NOTICE: 1. Both the Fast Adaptation and Standard Adaptation methods only adapt the idle area. 2. The off idle area can only be adapted when the motorcycle is ridden under load, i.e. on the road. 3. The off idle adaptation area covers cruise sites from 40 to 60 mph (60 to 100 kmh), therefore the motorcycle must be at operating temperature and ridden at a constant speed for a minimum of 12 minutes in order to adapt. As it is not always possible for dealers to adapt motorcycles in this way, dealers are therefor recommended to inform customers that the motorcycle will continue adapting during normal use. If during an adaptation cycle the conditions are no longer met, for example if the motorcycle is ridden aggressively, the motorcycle will take longer to adapt." This info followed the dealer adaptation where it was indicated that the motorcycle should be connected to the diag tool, run the bike, don't touch the throttle, wait till the temp rises to 90c and the queue the adaptation from the diag tool. Which again reinforces that the 10min tune is a conflation of the on and off idle adaptation methods.

Have a dyno or anything to show what the mods did with the tune? Did DNK show you a power band or anything so you knew what you would be getting in regards to performance? Can't seem to get an answer out of DNK as to what exactly their tunes do for any model of bike over rand above just removing the throttle restriction at higher RPMs and raising the rev limiter which you can do yourself with the basic TuneECU App.

hey Adam - have you ever tried the "log" feature in tuneecu? basically, doing a 3rd gear pull on the road while recording the data to tuneecu so you can review the engine parameters? just ordered the dnk tune and had to buy a new tablet to get tuneecu to work properly, so havent demo'd it yet, but spotted the "log" function. benefit would be asking DNK for a tune revision based on how "your" bike is performing on an off-the-shelf tune.

Great video as usual! Just a couple of questions: Does Triumph void the warranty for using a 3rd party ecu remap? and Does this remap all 3 modes?
@AdamCroll4 жыл бұрын
I’d be willing to guess yes, but I’m sure it depends on what on the bike is being warrantied. They may overlook it if something not related was broken.
@dnktuneworks9164 жыл бұрын
All three modes are improved drastically, and any manufacturer can void a warranty for basically anything they feel, it's been like that since the start of time. That said, in many markets, the end-user is protected and the manufacturer would have to find a direct link to a failure to have a warranty concern. If your radiator leaks, that's on Triumph.

Great video. I think I will do something like it down here in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. I have already saw a lot of your videos and a lot more from other folks about the ST. Let me ask you this: Did you experience any front brake squeal on low speeds til stop, like a traffic light? There are a lot of people out there with this problem and apparently no solution. I already tried several things including exchanging the brake´s pad for EBC and still the same random problem. Well, if you have or had, did you do anything to solve? Thanks. And by the way, try to rotate 180 degrees each mirror and le me know if you fell any difference. Regards.
@AdamCroll4 жыл бұрын
The only time I get any squealing is after long spirited canyon riding, It’s not all of the time though. Compared to others complaints I’ve have minimum issues but it’s occasionally present. I assume it happens for me when. The rotors get very hot. I keep my mirrors this way to make it narrower so I don’t clip cars when I split lanes (legal in Los Angeles!)

Adam what do you think of the bike now after having the retune in it now for a few months. I know we are not suppose to be concerned about fuel mileage, but with the small tank I got to ask what the mpg is now on the average if you figure it. Hey the mpg may have went up even I know it did when I did the decat. Live in the desert west of Phx. and sometimes the distance on rides can be very close to running out. Do carry a little container on long trips. Was thinking of trying to get the TecBike.com camshaft for it but after watching your video(twice now) I am really thinking of doing the tune. Great videos! Thanks.
@AdamCroll4 жыл бұрын
The tune in my opinion is worth doing! It’s not a huge difference but it’s noticeable and it really seems to bring an already awesome engine to the next level of smoothness and power delivery. As far as fuel mileage, I’m not much of a help really. I’ve never had a situation where I was on the verge to running out of gas. Between the before and after mods I’d say it’s not much different but for me with the mods I find I burn more gas in general because it’s so easy to push this bike to its limits in the twisties! Thus I fill the tank often lol!

@@AdamCroll I've noticed just the opposite. My '22 feels less snatchy in Sport mode at low speeds. I've got the USBlink MX+ arriving in a couple days. I'm anxious to unleash the bikes full potential with a custom ECU tune. The second gen. Speed Twins have 12 to1 compression ratio with forged pistons, a bigger camshaft and better flowing ports. I'm hoping for around 110hp with the mods I've made already and the new tune. The factory mufflers sound soo good with the baffles removed and a British Customs competition x-pipe in place of the cat. I always run premium non-ethanol fuel, with Stabil, and Klotz Nitro octane booster with Koolinall, added to each tank in appropriate amounts. Never once has it popped or sputtered at any throttle position since I've had it.
