While I agree with most of your findings in this video, I have recently come the conclusion that it’s better to just buy the index. Buying and following separate companies takes a lot of time and effort. It will also cause a lot of feelings of stress and anxiety. Sure, it sounds very logical to buy and hold the stock and not be emotional when it moves against you. But in reality, when you put in your real money, it’s hard to turn those emotions off. Especially when your stocks go down, but the index is going up. Very frustrating. Besides, most people will not beat the market like you said. But even if you do, like you did as you showed in the last part of your video, is it really worth it? You outperformed the market by 30% or so in 5 years time, but compare that to all the time you have spent on it in the last five of years. Probably thousands of hours you could have spent otherwise if you just would have bought the index. Besides all the fear and anxiety I mentioned. Personally, for me, it’s not worth it besides my regular job as it just takes up too much time. Even if did outperform the market (which i didn’t) I don’t think that extra outperformance would be worth all that time. Therefore, I am quitting separate stocks and moving everything (gradually) over to the SPY and QQQ etfs. Just let it run and add when the markets drop, but don’t spend anymore time on it.
