Radiohead uses 3 guitars, drums, bass, backing vocals, and keyboards for this song and you completely captured the essence of it with one acoustic guitar and your own voice. Incredible job.

I went to a Radiohead concert years ago in nyc. Was a cloudy summer day. Right as yorke went into the “rain down” verse the sky opened up and it began to pour. Was a moment.

Was this the show at Liberty State Park in NJ back in August 2001? Or was it during the In Rainbows era (again, in Liberty State Park as part of the early incarnation of Governor’s Ball)? I’m pretty sure those are the times Radiohead played outdoor events in the greater NYC area after OK Computer came out (I’ve seen them on every tour since they opened for Alanis Morrissette at my very first rock concert when I was 15 in 1996, a year before OK’s release, and I remember the moment you’re talking about but I can’t place for certain which of the two it was.)
@EagerMartialArts-cl7vd8 ай бұрын
@@chloemchll3774 was after ok computer.
@chloemchll37748 ай бұрын
@@EagerMartialArts-cl7vd I’m pretty sure it had to be after Kid A, as I saw them on all the OK Computer trips through NY and they played venues like Hammerstein Ballroom (I was at the Live at the Ten Spot show, and saw them there a second time that tour) and Radio City (where I saw the final show of the US tours for OK Computer, the one where they debuted How to Disappear as an encore.) Maybe I am missing one but I really suspect it was the 2001 Liberty State Park show, which for me has an extra significance as it was also the last time I remember seeing the Twin Towers before 9/11.
@chloemchll37748 ай бұрын
@@EagerMartialArts-cl7vd FWIW I looked up their old tours and there is no outdoor show after OK Computer but before Kid A in the NYC area. There is the Tibet Freedom Concert on Randall’s Island a couple weeks before OK Computer was released (OK Computer was released on my 16th birthday, so kinda easy to remember the exact date) and they did play Paranoid Android there (in fact, it was the only OK Computer song they played during a maybe hour long set) so if it was that specific one, so be it. But I was at the Liberty State Park shows and at the early version of Governor’s Ball they did for In Rainbows, and it definitely started raining at one of them I think during Paranoid Android, so I was sort of hoping you’d know which one based off which show you were talking about.

This is pure performance - no backing track, no looping pedal, no edits - just raw, soulful, ART. It would sound just the same without any electronic equipment (even the vocal reverb simply accentuates the natural sound)... Few have the guts to attempt this and far fewer have the talent to pull it off. So incredibly rare to see.
@brokenradio-b7y9 ай бұрын
Firstly, what's the problem with backing tracks and loop pedals? Secondly, it is edited, you can clearly hear reverb on it, and probably some compression, which already makes it not RAW, and it's god damn okay

Man, I really want to thank you. I’ve been struggling with clinical depression for years now, during quarantine it became the worse it ever had. I came across one of your covers of the smiths, I’m not sure which one but I loved it. I sent it to my sister, I didn’t like the smiths at the time but your cover was so great I had to share it. I felt very inspired watching you play. While I had always wanted to play guitar you were honestly one of the reasons I decided to actually give it a try. Now I’m about a year in half into playing. I just finished writing an album and I’ve fallen in love with guitar and music. My life has been getting better and guitar honestly saved me. I just came across this video in my recommendations and I realized I owe a lot to you. You’re cover made me go through with buying the guitar and I love the smiths now. Keep doing your amazing covers and I look forward to seeing your future work! Thank you so much!!
