My high school had an old pair of 4.3 octave Adams marimbas, and over time the headboards took some damage that revealed that they are actually vinyl-coated wood. Hope that helps!

Interesting!! Thanks for pointing that out!

I want a 4.3 marimba, and even though I know that the sound isn't the most exciting, it is great for practicing. And I can ever afford a 5 octave good marimba I can always resell it easily. Plus, in my percussion ensemble I have played on this exact model for years now and I liked it.

Update, I got one only 3 years and in perfect condition half the price of the same model used. :) it's great

Yeah I would LOVE to get a 5 octave myself. Makes it more worth it to get rosewood bars too.

That’s awesome! Used is a great way to go. Glad you’re enjoying it!

I am considering trying to build a marimba out of rosewood and am researching the feasibility of it and acquiring the rosewood. I'm not sure of pipe resonated or box resonated because I am not sure of what it takes for building pipe resonators, plus I'm not sure of the sound quality or sound volume of box resonated. I'm sure that if I do this project I will opt for box resonated.

This is so interesting. Definitely not an easy thing at all. Especially with acquiring materials. Box resonated would probably be the easiest option. That is what most Glockenspiels are, is box resonated. Please let me know how it's going with this project!

Hey! I am currently looking at this marimba about a year later from when you made this video but I'm noticing on Steve Weiss that it is about $1000 more now. Were you able to get a discount (and if so do you know anyway I could aquire one) or has the price just been raised?
@ZacharySavinsky2 жыл бұрын
Hello! I took a look at the prices, and it did go up to $3,399.95, which is more than I said in the video. I did not get a discount on it, but what I believe may have happened is two things. 1) The change of frame. It no longer has the Voyager Frame and is now the Apex Frame. Something they could be trying to capitalize on. 2) Inflation is becoming a factor as well. I work at a music store, and that has become a problem for us. We’ve had to raise prices across the board. I hope this helps! Thanks for your comment!

Weird question: but I LOVE the wall art. Where did you get it? 😂 Also thanks for this video!! I haven’t bought a marimba yet and I think I’ll go with this one
@ZacharySavinsky3 жыл бұрын
I actually got it off of Etsy believe it or not!! But that’s not a weird question at all😂 I’m so glad you found the video helpful! This board is definitely a great one, PLUS you’ll get the new Apex frame on it!

4 octave old (but tuned and intact) rosewood v this... What would you choose and why?
@winterlion352810 ай бұрын
Same price

Although the opportunity to have a rosewood instrument is appealing, I would probably still choose a 4.3 octave padouk instrument over it. Simply because of the octaves. There's just not a lot of repertoire written for a 4 octave range, compared to the amount that is written for a 4.3 octave range.

For practice it sounds ok, but definitely wouldn’t buy it for a school/concert setting
