Great video on the Devil's Kitchen, and I love the clip from the Gettysburg Daily post from 13 years ago. Great stuff, Tim!

Such a great video. Tim is a legend. I remember watching the video of the snake skin on Gettysburg Daily.

Can't believe it's been 13 years since the snakeskin video with Garry. I used to love the content on Gettysburg Daily.

Tim, I believe the Germans in the area named the rocky areas "the Devil's ...something". There are many examples in Germany where rocky areas are named the Devil's something. One example of many, many is the Teufelsmuehle (Devil's Mill) near Gernsbach in the northern Black Forest. This seems to be a very long tradition in Germany. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teufelsmühle_(Black_Forest)

Another great Monuments Monday video. Since I have a phobia of snakes, I don't think I will be hiking that area of the battlefield, at least not alone, anytime soon. ☺️😀

Hard to picture troops on BRT & LRT taking pot shots at each other. Then you put up period pics of the "bald spots" on both hills. Can certainly see it now!

That was also one of my biggest takeaways from this video!

The devil seems to own a lot of stuff, and it's not always about snakes. Near where I live there's a pond called "The Devil's Bathtub," and a steep downhill stretch heading eastbound on the Massachusetts Turnpike is known as "The Devil's Step Ladder."

😅 sounds like nothing has changed in the last 149 years with the Baltimore Sun.. told lies back then and the same today.

Ratsnakes can reach 8 feet but shed skins stretch and are up to 20% longer than the actual snake. Nonetheless that was a very impressive shed. Very few creatures have more exaggerations about their size and behavior than snakes.

In the late 90's I saw the biggest black snake I ever saw on Culps Hill. It was at least 15 feet long.

Makes me wonder why guides never take tours to the devil's kitchen?

Tim, you scared the heck out of me when you stuck your hand in that Crack! I sat up in bed. I am only afraid of two types of snakes. A live one and a dead one. Nice job, Tim Smith.
