#MARIMBAONEWEEK EPISODE 4 - MALLET BAG
Massive thank you to Ron Samuels and Marimba One for sending me a whole bunch of Marimba One mallets and gear!
The Marimba One Mallet Bag is one of the few products Marimba One makes that isn't either a mallet or an instrument. It lives on the side of my marimba so that I can do quick mallet changes without getting a table! Great for use as a stick holder or a backpack that can hold your daily essentials as well as some mallets.
A good first generation product but I think a few small improvements could make it even better.

I use the Vic Firth Concert keyboard bag. same sort of idea but cheaper and MUCH higher quality in all aspects. Holds all of my mallets nicely with tons of room for music, method books and folders. Also has a bunch of extra pockets for gear. LOVE the bag and I love your videos! Getting me pumped about marimba again!

Ah yes I have a Vic Firth bag similar to that one! Really nice materials and I'm slightly jealous you have the one that hangs on the instrument ;) Thank you for watching, I'm glad you're pumped about this instrument that we all love!

for drumline and marching band at my school I used my instructor's innovative mallet bags and they were comftrable. I don't know which he used but they were simple and grew on me for competitions and the like.

I don’t use stick bags like a back pack that are the size of one I just use a actual backpack because I have mainly drum set, and marching percussion sticks not very many mallets in it but I have this bag so whenever I need to carry a bunch of mallets I either use this or the galaxy grip bag

your channel really helps me with my personal playing. i am in 7'th grade and i'm in my second year playing percussion and i always have the marimba/bell kit part and i would really apreeciate it if you made a video for what people in middle/high school band should use for concert music with transitions from fast to slow parts. thanks in advance

Tadakatsu 1717 Thanks for watching! I think if you must get a rectangular bag then the Vic Firth keyboard bag has all the features of this one but way better built. 😄 But if you're on a budget then the Humes and Berg Galaxy Grip Bag is my favourite bag still!

Hi. I'm looking around for some good quality mallet bags and I'm not quite sure what to buy. I recently looked up and found the Vic Firth Concert Keyboard mallet bag and was wondering if you could do a review on it.
@AdamTanPercussion
@AdamTanPercussion 6 жыл бұрын
Definitely my favourite bag is the Galaxy Grip Bag still for most kinds of mallets because it's cheap and well built, the Vic Firth keyboard bag is okay but not really my first pick because it is a folding type bag ahaha...
@AlemayehuFrancois19283
@AlemayehuFrancois19283 6 жыл бұрын
Okay thanks for the input. Do you know any good quality mallet bags which can be held like a backpack like the marimba one bag but are in good quality and are durable and can hold expensive mallets?

How do the hooks (that allow you to put it on the marimba) differ from other stick bags that have that?
@AdamTanPercussion
@AdamTanPercussion 7 жыл бұрын
HaiGuy The hooks have thicker cord than the ones on my old stick bag and there's five of them which makes it a bit more stable on the marimba I guess, not much difference other than that 😄

I have a feeling that the bigger sized pockets are meant to make it easier to “deposit” mallets when switching from 4 mallet to 2 mallet quickly
@AdamTanPercussion

Why do you insist on grabbing the heads of your mallets before playing on your 15,000 dollar marimba, no hate, just really confused.
@AdamTanPercussion
@AdamTanPercussion 6 жыл бұрын
This is an interesting point! I would ask you first, how is grabbing your mallets by their heads as opposed to their shafts any different to using them to strike the instrument? I believe any damage or wear you get on mallets would come mostly from hitting the instrument - and I would personally rather not worry about heads of mallets when I know they are going to be worn anyway from playing. That being said, I understand it's important to protect more expensive fragile mallets if you're planning to use them more sparingly for 'special use', but I don't own many fragile mallets anyway. I'm also interested as to why you quote the price of my marimba - I would still grab my mallets the same way regardless of whether I was playing on mine or on a $2500 yamaha lol
@loganpierce3163
@loganpierce3163 6 жыл бұрын
Adam Tan it's about the oil on your hands getting on your expensive rosewood bars, not to mention pre mature wear on the yarn mallets
@AdamTanPercussion
@AdamTanPercussion 6 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but I feel like the degree of damage done to both the marimba and bars in both of those instances is really minimal over a long period of time, or even non existent as newer marimbas have better finishes on the wood to prevent from something as common as a fingerprint doing massive amounts of damage. I also know people with way more expensive marimbas than me who don't do anything that you've said haha. But totally understandable and a very sensible approach for someone who wants to be ultra careful!
@loganpierce3163
@loganpierce3163 6 жыл бұрын
Adam Tan I agree it's being picky, I was just always yelled at for grabbing the heads, never really knew if it was bad or not.
