Meeting clients is hands down the best thing you can do as a wedding vendor. I use it as a gauge for whether the couple are a good fit for me or not. I don't use it so much to pursuade the couple pick me though my primary purpose is to weed out couples that don't match my brand or that might be problematic. Great work Adam keep it up.

Agreed. Equally as important to be aware if you're going to be the right fit for their wedding or not. Not sure it's about brand for me.. more 'is my style right for them or would it be best if they went with another company'. Thanks so much btw 🙏

How do you tell a couple that you think they would be better off with another company though?
@ihashup

@@TheSeanBampton Create a profile for your ideal customer and create profile for your business. Try your best to match the two. If you don't match with the customer just let them know. Ex: "According to what you're looking for and expectations you want posed and stylized imagery but I mainly focus on reportage and authentic moments. I can refer you to my friends at (insert other company name) as I think their visual style would be a better match.

If they want loads of gimbal and a 2 hour video, I’m straight to recommending someone else 😂

@@AdamWingFilms LOL, for sure! (or I'm charging them a ridiculous amount to make it worth my time).

on the second shooter add on, how much do you charge, and do you build in yourself a cut of the add on price ?
@AdamWingFilms

I charge £500, sometimes that means a bit for me other times it’s all paid to the shooter depending on who I use, how many hours etc.

This was so helpful !! ..One thing about working with my own clients is having to sell yourself and usually meeting the couple; like you said helps as their most likely sold with the footage from previous work but being only 22, often I find having to prove to the couple how capable and confident I am on the day of the wedding. I gather that this is something I won't always have to prove but for the time being, do you have any advice for a 22 year of female Wedding Videographer working independently and ways in which I can reassure them before their big day? Nice vid !! :)

Hey Amy 😊 this is exactly why to always have a meeting, it’s a great way to show off your confidence & passion and squash any preconceived worries they might have had about your age. 100% this will be more reassuring than not meeting them at all and just turning up on the day. Use your age to your advantage and convince them they don’t want old school uncle Bob at their wedding 😉 Hope this helps.

What if they live 1-2 hrs away ? Online contract ? Phone call ? Travel ?

I’d invite them to me first. then meet half way if that’s too far, or zoom/FaceTime

Yes and yes Adam, you know my thoughts on client meetings, its so important.This is what i always tell my clients, when it comes to photographer or videographer - look at two or three people, be sure that you like their photos or films and the style of film of photo they offer, then arrange a meeting with them. After meeting them all, book the one that you get on with the most. I follow up by telling them that if you really connect with them, that you will feel at complete ease with who've you booked, and there will be no awquard moments on the day. Great vid pal, keep up the good work.. H x

I have a meeting next week to video a ceremony and I'm not really sure what to bring or to say during the meeting? It's my first gig and I don't have a business or anything so I'm worried I'm going to look underprepared. Do you have any suggestions on what to bring and how to present myself or any tips?
@AdamWingFilms
@AdamWingFilms 3 жыл бұрын
Firstly well done on securing your meeting! Honestly just be yourself, ask questions and get as much info as possible. What kind of ceremony? Will there be readings, hymns. Who is giving the readings. What’s happening after the ceremony, confetti, photos etc. Explain how you will approach it, cameras, audio etc. General chit chat. I don’t take anything to meetings per say, just be yourself and make them comfortable with you as a person, you’ll be fine 👌

Great video Adam. Some super useful points, I’d advocate meeting every couple too, it definitely helps confidence in the relationship of videographer and client. And settles your nerves more than anything, I’d hate to shoot a wedding and not have met or spoken to the couple properly
