"perfectionism" as a weakness is, weak. It's like saying, "my only weakness is that I'm too good." There's no self-reflection in that. This is SUCH a common response to this questions, don't fall into the trap!
@kehk71474 жыл бұрын
i thought the same exact thing
@NapFroCentrics3 жыл бұрын
@April 2520 you would pick an actual weakness you have! they’re not necessarily focused on the weakness itself but they’re more focused on how you overcome that weakness :)
@leahlevite12453 жыл бұрын
I get what you mean. Thank you.
@LorianandLothric2 жыл бұрын
Yes, please don't do what she did. Instead, choose a real weakness and then follow it up by talking about what steps you're taking to improve. That's what adcoms want to see, is that you did some self reflecting and that you're trying to be better
@anthonysorendino2 жыл бұрын
If someone were to say that as an answer, I wouldn’t be surprised if an interviewer would think it’s a joke.
@anthonysorendino2 жыл бұрын
I think a much better answer than just “Try again next year” is something along the lines of: “I’d use this next year to keep learning and diversifying my experiences, focusing on areas of weakness I might have. I’d plan on coming back next year as an even stronger candidate than I am today.”

I am a pre-PA student, so I haven't had the chance to be in the process of applying to PA school just yet. Although, in my opinion, the interviewee didn't expand on some of the questions that were asked to her. I feel like two word answers is too short because it doesn't allow the interviewer to shape a great impression on her. I feel like expanding on some of the questions would help show her personality a little more and show off some communication skills as well. This is just my opinion though. I think she showed great poise throughout the interview and there were no questions that stunned her. Great job!
@thepetitepa3 жыл бұрын
I love the stimulation piece! My interview was about 30 min for both of the PA interviews I went on. I would say more personality and thought into the answers. You want to be remembered but in a good way.

@AdannaThePA3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I think the benefit of having these simulations is that we can hone our interviewing skills we can see things that work and things that don't work and we can also see ourselves in some of these people we can see how we may react to certain things or how we may look in the eye of an interviewer and then choose to adjust those

Definitely thought the same about the rocking in the seat. I also thought she said physician’s assistant so I was like oh no. I was sooo nervous for my interviews. Actually the two interviews I was least nervous on were the two schools I got accepted to so I always try to be confident! Do you think you could maybe do some videos on job interviews after PA school? I know you’re really busy with this that you are doing but it would be great as well especially during Covid. I’m so nervous for interviews. Or maybe on negotiating. Like how it looks like for a PA job.

Why do they have interviews for PA school? I think they are attempting to add a level of importance to this than is necessary. Do PA's serve an important function? Yes they do but there was a time this field didn't exist and doctors were just fine.

Not usually in my experience. I feel like the minimum we’re about 10 minutes but it’s hard to remember because you’re nervous. But it varies by school. Also this is only one part of an interview. Interview day usually lasts 3-6 hours. Most of mine included individual interview, group interview, tour of the school, financial aid info, and an essay.

All interviews aren't like this this is just a sample of what your interview may be like. As far as grants and scholarships, you honestly just have to research and apply. That's kinda all you can do and if you're elegible they'll let you know

The first thing I noticed from this video was that her head is tilted and she is spinning her body on the chair while answering. Did she not learn how to respond professionally? lol If I were the interviewer, I'd had tossed her application straight to the trashcan.
