The late Roger Ebert wrote that when you close your eyes, you could tell who was talking in Adaptation by the rhythm of speaking and tone of voice that Cage used for each twin. They walked differently, with distinct cadences to how they moved their shoulders and body. And just like real twins, Cage gave each twin a facial expression --- a resting face -- that was distinct to each twin. Master at his craft. underrated performance. He got an Oscar nomination for this but he its still an underrated performance, especially now when people are getting re-acquainted with Cage's filmography and finding out how much of a cinephile he is, and the young/er generation learning about him. Pedro Pascal and Tom Gormican in interviews have put Adaptation as theirtop favorite Cage movie.

I think his best performance by far is Mandy but Adaptation was definitely more subtle acting and Mandy is more over the top acting.

i would so much want to see a movie where he and Charlie Kaufman playing themselves during the making of the movie adaptation.he just describe two wonderful scenes in that movie.

Portraying twin brothers AND portraying someone so insecure and blundering...- even twenty years ago, Cage had already really honed his craft.

in a recent career retrospective video, Cage said the choreography and orchestra required to play the twin brothers is something he probably couldn't pull off now

well actually the movie does make Donald look bad. You sympathize with Charlie
@j.goebbels21346 жыл бұрын
Actually in the end Donald looks like the hero. And he was the one who pulled Charlie's script out of the abyss (ironically by adding all the cliches that Charlie said in the first scene he would never have -- car chases, drug running, shootings, etc).
@Carlos-ln8fd4 жыл бұрын
Do you think so? I loved Donald. He was always supportive and respectful of his brother. Also at the end he helps Charlie become more confident and overcome his writer's block.

Maybe you shouldn't preface your opinion on a highly interpretive film like this with "Well actually" Because I frankly disagree with you. Which is fine but you come off like a douche.
@zacharyarledge63673 жыл бұрын
@@Carlos-ln8fd oh I thought Donald was a figment of Kaufman's imagination. Kind of like Tyler Durden but the constructive version.
