In literally every other universe that dragons exist it seems like dragons just appear so nothing adapted to them in the environment all but this one which is why I genuinely enjoy it
@michaelblevins16513 ай бұрын
That’s specifically because dragons either sleep for decades or centuries or because they are thought to be extinct
@reallycantthinkofausername4873 ай бұрын
Sometimes dragons are just single individuals that rarely appear so in cases like that it's understandable Nobody expected Smaug to siege the Mountain
@naturalist4life3963 ай бұрын
What if there's an entire fantasy story where this actually is the case; dragons just appeared from out of nowhere, and a big part of the plot is figuring out where they came from.

Imagine a world where some regions are innately familiar with dragons while other regions rarely or ever see dragons. If someone is visiting from the first regions, he may be trying to quickly teach people about how to survive.

I love how you don’t just do the world building trope of “dragon big so animals evolve to be big” and instead detail the specifics of how some animals not only combat but also coexist with the dragons and even evolve to combat specific types of dragons like the how the hellmouth has armor on its neck to defend against hellbaskers YOU’RE SO COOL

I really like how you have the mammals evolve as well. Usually in other world buildings projects, especially with dragons, mammals don’t get a lot of love. And even when they do, usually it’s for cattle like Deer and Pig like creatures. But i love how not only do you incorporate mammals in your work, but you also make them really strong too. In your other videos talking about the society of your world, i noticed those dog looking creatures you have. Like the Draketrack Dog and the Mounthound, along with the Kinghound. Will you do a video dedicated to them?

Love this, because this doesn't fall into the general trope of big monstrous dragons attack castle hero comes to save the day Instead this focusses more on the ecology biology and general influences towards the fauna, flora, and terrain of the world I love the fact that you actually dive into so much as to include the animal's evolutionary descendants and the cultures of each nation Great job man this is awesome

It's worth noting that, while the giant herbivore armadillos like Doedicurus are more famous, they were contemporary with macropredatory armadillos that were probably specialized for hunting burrowing rodents-- a bit like a badger, if a badger were the size of a black bear (and covered in armor). The habitat of the Gorgelands, along with the Hellmouth's proportions and armor, don't remind me of those carnivorous prehistoric species, though. Honestly, if its ancestor closely resembled any Earth animal, my guess would (perhaps ironically) be the pink fairy armadillo, which is specialized for burrowing and hunting in loose soils. Still, it's interesting that the Hellmouth has lost the squat build that fossorial armadillos have in favor of something more dog- or boar-like, to the point that they don't even bury themselves to sleep. It makes me wonder what evolutionary pressure drove them up out of the ground.

I like how animals in this project will have injuries and ailments due to age or conditions : The black glass armour of the hellmouth isn't a thing they grow but it's somenthing they develop from encounters with bishops ... It's kinda like how wolves with toxoplasma g are more liklely to form their hown pack , It's am injury that partially aids them ... Many projects are unlikely to show these injuries or these ailments ... I am glad to see it

Thought Helmouths dominates dragons with size advantage more akin to elephants. So their actual proportions were quite surprising. The hellmouth saying “get rotated idiot” to the bishop is just hilarious nonetheless.
