I have to take your journalist to task about the India report. People need training to encourage them to plant trees? That's not why there are no trees in slum areas. Trees don't exist there because they are cut down for wood, the soil and water quality is terrible, and growing trees is a long-term investment that requires a settled population that largely owns the land they live on. The report also notes water stress in India; well, you need water to grow trees.
