Adaptive Cruise Control and Speed Limiter

This feature caused me a great deal of issues. I love speed limiters and used them many times in the past on a Mercedes I owned so was really pleased when it was added to the Evoque, especially as it was ASL. However,, driving Northbound on the M5 from Gloucester on 15/10/22 and the road was limited to 50mph. So was using ASL to ensure i did not break the speed limit. After driving under a Road Bridge the car suddenly started to brake and the ASL warning flashed up that I was over the set limit. It tried to get me down to 30 MPH! Fortunately, it was a Saturday and the traffic was light otherwise I could have had a 32 tonner behind me. Its my theory the system read the speed for the road above me. I wont use it again on a Motorway. I contacted Land Rover on the chat today to discuss and they totally dissed me ad said to speak to the dealer. I cant believe that as I think this is a major safety issue.

If I had not used this function before driving a Range Rover, I would not be able to understand this feature. A few spoken words and a matching example would go a long way!

Will it soon be possible for "Adaptive Cruise Control" & "Speed Limiter" to work together? Currently only one or the other works.

I agree. So annoying. My wife's Ford Kuga can use both simultaniously. It is much easier to use and so intuitive.

This is so darn confusing!! I just bought a 2024 LR Defender 110 and I’ve read the manual, watched several videos, and googled how to use the cruise control… for the life of me I do not understand why JLR made this one feature so damn complicated…not to mention how to turn it off!!!! Guess I’ll have to keep my foot on the gas petal while driving long distances or set up another tutorial at the dealership! Just NUTS!

I love adaptive “cruise control”, but doesn’t it negate the need for the “speed limiter”? Am I missing something… Best wishes, Colin.

Cruise control keeps you at a set speed (unless the car in front is going slower) and will always try and get you back to that speed. You can’t brake or accelerate or it will cancel. The limiter just does that - sets a top limit, otherwise you can drive around normally just safe in the knowledge you won’t exceed a certain speed.

What a joke the cruise facility is on the new Range Rover. The old system was far simpler to use. I agree with the previous comment, cut the annoying music and get someone to describe how to use it. Come on Land rover, drivers are spending more time looking at screens in the car than driving!
