I see some fundamental issue in this video! Lane discipline! You shouldn’t overtake a vehicle on the left side, which i see in india is very normal for the drivers. But it’s a expensive mistake. You should signal the car on the fast lane (i am not talking about the speed limit here) and once the car changed to the slower lane then you can overtake.
@vfourvvv7701 Жыл бұрын
Well said. Even I felt the same. Easy thing was as you told the Etios should have cleared the way for XUV700. The left cutting and again right cutting, itself is only seen in India . The rule is not to use Left lane for overtaking. Oncr overtaken in right lane , a car should come to left lane . Right lane is only for speeding / overtaking . No one should cruise or moves in a same speed on right lane.

Using the indicator before changing lanes is crucial. The Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) will not function if the indicator is not used correctly. This is particularly important for ETIOS drivers whom you have overtaken previously. Your frustration with ADAS arises from not following this fundamental lane change procedure. Skilled drivers typically avoid issues by adhering to this rule, which explains why they don't often complain. Those who do complain about ADAS may not fully grasp the importance of using the indicator before changing lanes.

Very valid point. As an engineer i would say HUMAN + Computer - both taking decisions, it need not be same, nor we can communicate the intentions. It is like TWO COOKS will SPOIL THE FOOD. Eg: If there is sudden barricade in high and speed im going quite high, right side i take there is BIKER and LEFT side on road side there is BUFFALO, i would rather hit the buffalo than biker. But LCW will hold the steering or autonomous-cars will hit the biker and keep me on the road. I think most accidents are due to LCW not detected at right time and banging on divider etc,.

Lane assit, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control can't be used anywhere and everywhere, you need to understand that. It is mostly suited for highways. At that particular point changing lane would have steered steering wheel to the left. Seems that was not a problem there one can over steer whenever required. Here the problem was AEB to avoid front collision. In this kind of city bumper to bumper drive no other option only we have to turn the AEB OFF. That turning off feature is already available in XUV 700. Or can see trial by keeping AEB ON and adjust distance to the minimum. That option is also available in XUV 700. This video has thrown lights that everyone should 1st know and set the features of ADAS according to the driving location situation etc and then only MOVE your car.

Bro. Please read the ADAS specifications. I can understand that the new advancements will take some time to adapt. But changing lanes as you explained in the first scenario is not normal. You should put indicator so that it will allow you to what you want to do. ADAS is not for the city. It is totally deployable in the high ways. It has very good pros. Btw you can turn off anything.

ADAS, LKA, AEB are excellent features. It also needs a certain level of discipline among other users as well. For Indian conditions, there will be a challenging period of adapting to it - both driver and public. In start stop bumper traffic in most towns, if a leave gap for AEB to work, you will find a free two wheelers getting into the gap. This might deploy AEB and someone driving close on your rear might hit you. Practical challenges will be there in anything that comes new. Good to have highlighted that issue in this video. Good technology needs support and adaptation and will take time.

I think you are right when it comes to indian roads people mostly don't have a pattern on driving and ADAS/the braking system could lead to possible accidents.. At least if Indian drivers give up tail gating ADAS would be helpful. Like you said this could be fancy for a period and more people will turn to switching the feature off. Just looking at your example lot many people dont have a habit of using the turn indicator or most take the turn and while at it will put the indicator..Maybe if all vehicles come with ADAS over a period of time it will be good . Good job in giving a different perspective.

A person turning a car between 2 cars at 80kmph is NOT NORMAL. No offence, even I drive like that sometime especially on high ways . Of course, ADAS is not applicable within city where bumper to bumper traffic is normal. ADAS with cruise on highways is highly helpful on long drives . WRT lane keep assist, there must be an over ride . Of course, there might be some issues , which mahindra can address by new firmware . These are all welcom feature

Everyone in comments saying ADAS worked good for them and all. That is okay, good. But Why adas is a lesser important feature for us: 1. How much ever a good driver and rule following you may be, there will always be buffoons on the road who are otherwise. And by the time the features are disabled, things would be forgotten or something might happen. And with the features enabled, they intervene with regular driver reflexes like evading or lane skimming (hang on the lane edge to avoid obstacle) 2. If only everyone followed rules and drive on the road, these features may help and work effectively. 3. Not everyone driving the cars have enough patience to go to the settings and disable them on the fly. 4. Only a handful of people use indicators while changing lane or turning. Since this system works with indicators ON, it's gonna be a bit of an problem for those who don't have the habit. And emergency braking from 100kmph+ to 0 when something jaywalks on a highway depends on the brakes and the driver attentiveness/reflex. Either it's a stop or an evade. 5. Automatic braking systems should be calibrated in such a way that it only should work above 60 kmph. Below that the driver can do the job and not a machine, learn to be attentive while driving. 6. Level 1, 2, 3, 5 and whatever, It may be useful to some, but some do not prefer electronic intervention while driving regularly, it ruins the experience for the sake of it and makes the driver lazy or dependent on these things to drive in the long run. Not cool. 7. Adaptive cruise control is good, but you never know the next move of the ego vehicle, unless the speed limits are properly followed and driven at. All can say, ADAS and all of its glory, yes it's useful in certain places, BUT being a better driver yourself can be life saving and a useful tool than most of the electronic driver aids. 💯

A very neat presentation abt ADAS. Actually at the beginning of the video i was yelling at U because of the Love towards XUV700 but wat U said is absolutely correct. When it comes to technology in a country like India it is a nightmare where most of the places dont even hv proper road to commute then wat is the use of Lane keep assist and other robotic stuffs. Even adapting to the transformation of Fuel to EV is also a tuff thing but i dont know on wat basis all the manufacturers are jumping into EV's because setting up charging stations and the time it takes to charge makes it worse for EV to be practical in Our Country.😂

Dude, I'm commenting here after watching the entire video, I appreciate your job of sharing, your experience with ADAS and the problems that you and others have faced with the ADAS (but the vehicle you mentioned is against a brand), but instead doing this you can educate people how to use the technology in the situations of when, where and where should not to user ( as you have mentioned like your are a technician in Mercedes-Benz ) for those who don't have the knowledge about it. Any thing can't be changed all of a sudden by turning on the lights by just ON of a switch. Also, you should not say like this feature is not required for Indian road conditions, they (the People who want the change ) are doing their job step by step. குறை சொல்றதுக்கும் தேவையே இல்லனு சொல்றதுக்கு வித்தியாசம் இருக்கு. Questions to You: As you said, you are not against the brand, but the title itself is against a brand. 1. Why don't you put this video instead of mentioning the Brand? 2. You already know about ADAS which is also present in the cars that is manufactured by the same company that you work, why can't you just use the some of your test drive vehicles to do this same video?
@abhijitpawar47102 жыл бұрын

His point of view has a logic for many like-minded drivers, I guess he didn't expect the breaking with such sharp overtaking stunt on normal traffic condition, which isn't correct given the space and traffic, hence he might've got negative impressions or abuses from the other drivers on the road(mainly from Etios driver). The emergency brakes are a.k.a. left foot braking is considered a sharp one, he has experienced it and which plays a role in his tone of narration. ADAS is definitely not for all driving experts or commuters, but much needed for fearful drivers(Adults and Seniors) considering the size of the vehicle and passengers(Children, Patients and Seniors) in the vehicle. A much anticipated choice ofcourse for expressway drive, especially during night though. BTW test drive can be driven in a much decent way without having to overtake, if a stretch is needed to put your foot down, ride it in the nearby wide roads, not all roads are narrow and high in traffic. This could help people in getting the pleasure from the test drive and at the same time not disturb other commuters' normal life nor put them in risk. Respect each other, drive safe, even it is a test drive car or your own or not doesn't matter. These type of features are used with the focus of safety, if we have the same mindset alike the manufacturer then we don't have to talk about the so called Indian roads(cos who laid it and riding on it are both Indians).

I agree that ADAS is pretty annoying in the city but it’s quite useful on the highways with good roads. Once, a Volvo V90 saved me from crashing onto an 800 that suddenly cut me off coz of AEB. Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep assist are useful and takes away a lot of stress in Kerala or other highways where ppl actually follow decent lane discipline.
