The Trials of Apollo as a series is SO underrated. Of course, nothing beats the original PJO, and HoO will always have a special place in my heart, but re-reading ToA I wondered how people just don't like it in general. It's amazing. Apollo is Rick's strongest protagonist in terms of humor, depth, emotion, and character development (*IMO OFC*) not my favorite protagonist, but Rick's strongest. Tower of Nero is one of my favorite Riordanverse books, the ending was so perfect and unreal it leaves me baffled at how people just dislike it.

Nice. Personally I find this series underrated. After so many demigod adventures this felt like a nice break and I'm happy to see a god actually change as a person. It feels like both series have been trying to advocate for change within the Gods and this series seems to be the culmination of those ideas. I'm currently on Tower of Nwro and im enjoying it

I liked how he made it more real, a lot of sacrifices were made during all of the books many people we came to love didn’t make it and I think that’s what makes the book so memorable because in Heroes Of Olympus, no one died but in Trials of Apollo who didn’t we lose.

I loved the way we saw Apollo (read Lester) grow... I mean, when we started off, he was this annoyingly cute/ stupid character who desperately needed a life check (duh, he was a god before), and during the whole series, we see him become more human(?) and I just loved it... The way he mourns over deaths, the way he rejoices with others, his love and protectiveness over Meg... Everything is just so perfectly tied up... I love it so much!

I read The Tower of Nero on the day of release, I couldn't wait (and thankfully I had the week off work so I didn't have to). I loved it so much. The Trials of Apollo is probably the weakest of the three Greek mythology series, but that's not saying much as I pretty much love all of Rick Riordan's kids' books. I do wish that we had got more focus on the series on Apollo's relationship with his children (especially Will) as for me that's the most interesting thing about having him be human - and particularly a teenager - though there's some great moments in the last book. I also love the way he changes through the series. Watching you respond to The Burning Maze on the video almost made me cry too remembering it! By the way, Riordan has said recently that he's not necessarily done writing in the Percy Jackson world, he's just not going to do any more 5 book series. He might do some standalone books! Hopefully that includes a Nico & Will book. Have you read the short stories that link together Percy Jackson with the Kane Chronicles? They're good. (I also really hope there's a bigger crossover coming sometime.)

I definitely agree! This series is not the strongest or best to me of his work, but I still loved it nonetheless! Also, I wish we’d gotten more of Apollo with his children too! I loved seeing his interactions with Will and all, and I think that’s why I liked the first book more than some of the others. And thanks for the information on his future writing! I don’t keep up with it as much as I should for a BookTuber so I appreciate all of you guys giving me the juicy details lol 🥰

I'm currently re-reading Percy Jackson! I'll be reading Heroes of Olympus soon and then I'll moving on to this series! I did read the first book of this series a couple years ago and I really liked it! I LOVE PERCY AND THIS UNIVERSE! Magnus Chase is also so good if anyone is considering starting it!

re: hazel, so what happened with her is that when she was a kid in the 1930s, she was being used by her mom & gaia to raise a giant. however, she sacrifices/kills herself (plus mom & giant) to prevent it from happening. i think part of the reason pluto/hades doesnt have that many kids is cuz in actual greek mythology, he only has like 1.5 kids and its probably one of the more faithful gods, hence why all his human kids are from the past.

I started percy Jackson when I was 12, I'm now 16 and still reading those books, I originally thought it ended after the Percy Jackson series, though I searched up Rick Riordan like last year, and I found heroes of Olympus, after that I thought it ended, but then we got trials of Apollo which I have not started yet.

I just finished the Tower of Nero for the first time last night and the ending was honestly perfect! As in it made me bawl like a baby. Honestly, I know the odds of us not getting anything else at all in this universe are very, VERY slim, but if we somehow don't get anything else, I'll be happy.

I think I am one of the few people that have not read any Rick Riordan book, but don´t worry, I already have Percy Jackson and the Olympians series awaiting for me, so anyone can ask, what heck I´m doing here? re: will glowing, god!apollo glows multiple times and i think somewhere he mentions that his kids can too. btw, i think its kinda amazing- of all the critiques/reviews i've checked out, i think youre the only one that liked Hidden Oracle and does not like Dark Prophecy. anyways, i personally like Dark prophecy 2nd best bc commodus was a good villain since apollo had personal stakes. (I was able to imagine adult god apollo & young adult commodus, so i didnt have the same revulsion you mentioned in your Dark prophecy video). (my personal ranking list- tower of nero, dark prophecy, the last 3rd of tyrant's tomb only, burning maze, and hiddle oracle)

Right before Apollo went to go fight Python, Meg told him to “Just come back to me.” I felt that Meg was starting to like Lester/Apollo in a romantic way. If you think back to Nero’s tower, Lester/Apollo also noticed that once Meg got cleaned up, she resembled a beautiful dryad which apparently startled him. Am I overthinking this?

Just under half way through. This one didn't draw me in like all the others have. Maybe it's just me. I hope in the next chapter or so I get hooked because so far It's been one chapter then break. All the other books I've finished in a day or two but this one's been a week and only ch 19. I'll try to hurry so I can watch the whole video. I'm in my 40's so I like to see how the people who grew up on Percy stories react to each new book.
