Both are great, but with my digital art, I paid 600 dollars (iPad, apple pen, and program) and now have an infinite supply of materials, both results if I wanted (and many more) with a very forgiving experience. I would love to have both guash and the markers, but I can never go back. I also get the liquify tool which is the best thing I have ever had.

Love the enthusiasm for gouache- they're just so hecking fun to paint with! I can't believe everyone isn't singing their praises all the time, it's become a real struggle to convince myself to use anything else. I especially love how well they work in a sketchbook- no bleed through, minimal buckling, any cheap "mixed media" paper is fine.

I’ve been an Artist my whole life and a professional artist for the last 8. Visually, the marker obviously won. Mentally, the gouache obviously won. I’ve been a pencil, marker, an now digital artist my whole life. I’d love to see more gouache videos and watch you progress and learn to paint with brushes myself though. I’ve always wanted to try brush painting, I just never had the balls to take that leap. Last year I took the leap to get into airbrushing and have now made a career out of it with customizing shoes, helmets, wallets, game systems, etc…. I also started tattooing about 8 years ago and now have 2 awards. All that’s left is picking up a brush. I’ll be doing that within the next few days. I appreciate you taking that leap, it’s finally gave me the courage to take the leap myself. Your channel is changing lives with art and I couldn’t be happier about it. Art saved my life, you’re using art to save many. If I would have never picked up a tattoo machine, I’d 100% be dead or in jail. No doubt about it.

I watched this without audio (my granddaughter was sleeping 😴) but an amazing thing happened! I saw the art in such a different manner. When you revealed them: I got a dark/heavy feeling from the marker side, for the gouache side; I felt light and happy and the artwork just looked finished. Does that make sense? I tried to explain it the best I could. Great video! I’d love to see a head to head with different gouache brands, that would be awesome 🤩

They both look great, but I am a sucker for the lineless textured style of the gauche. I've used both mediums before and i'll agree about the stress part, painting has the same feeling/mood as sketching to me where i know if i mess anything up i can just 'erase' it, which makes it easier to start putting stuff on the paper.

At 1/25th the price, gouache seems the best for the price. The need for planning needed for markersand time used also seem to make them less of a bargain. The blending is the only saving grace of the markers. In the end, I guess it comes down to which you prefer.

Most of the times i just want it to flow and i actually like artpieces with little mistakes, overstrokes and unclean lines more, because i can still feel the person behind it more.

Both look phenomenal, my biggest praise for the paints is just the 3d look to it, they both are taking a 2d image and trying to give it a 3d look, but because the paints lift off the picture it gives it more of a real 3d feeling to me, both are absolutely incedible tho.

For me paint is always going to beat markers. One needs so few paints in comparison to markers. You have infinite color possibilities from as little as 4 tubes of a paint like gouache. With watercolor you'll only need 3 as you don't need white. Plus as a sketchbook book lover you can use both sides of the page while markers bleed through. For me there's absolutely no contest. Arteza may be an inexpensive brand but their supplies are high quality, not top tier but still a very good brand. I think people are biased & just believe things that don't cost a lot are automatically inferior.

Just getting around to watching. Awesome as always. I think they are both really good, I can see the pros and cons in both. I just started heavy dabbling into coloring myself so I get the struggles with permanence and having to plan everything out, on the other hand I enjoy the planning almost as much as the coloring. Personally don't have favorite, while looking similar, they are different enough to look like different styles, and you can really see the shining moments in the Gouache where you zoned out and did your thing.

Good work. But you can lighted up the dark areas, even change colors, with different paper. And maybe different markers, not sure, i own only a few blue tones of the Winsor & Newton brush markers, i mainly use the most expensive brand. And there it works, and i don't mean a colorless blender, hate those, but with a lighter tone. you could have painted the whole area in that dark gray and then go over with the pink, it seperates the that one dark area into two.

Butter can blend! (shove it in a blender) Also interesting your points regarding the ability to make mistakes or be stuck with them from different mediums. Water colour, markers, coloured pencils, crayons and oil pastels, all are not the most easy to recover from. There are a few options (repainting over the paper with white acrylic, twink/whiteout, or gluing paper over the spot you mucked up but those are clunky) In contrast acrylic and gouache can be very forgiving in how you can use them.

Colour markers are what I taught myself on and used for years and years, so I got used to all those limitations and pre-planning of an illustration, and learned little blending techniques and how to lay down darker layers along the way, but of course could NEVER put down light colours on darks and as for doing white highlights, forget it. But that's what I was used to and so never gave all that more than a second thought. I've never worked with gouache before and now I'm going to have to give it a try. If it's as liberating as it looks I may just toss my coloured pens altogether.

It really depends on if your looking for more cartoony or realistic vibe some would say the left one is better because it looks more realistic but other would say right is better because it more cartoony in my opinion both are quite amazing! good work!

Hey ADC I'm glad you're enjoying gouache (one of my favourite mediums as well) to flatten the paper after you've painted lightly moisten the back of the watercolour paper make it feel damp then put it under some books to put some pressure on it let dry and bam paper is flat again. Hope this helps.

Working with paints all my life (watercolor, tempera and acrylics) i find using markers extremely frustrating. I bought a few alcohol markers and i love looking at them and trying them to make small designs and lettering, but when i need to make an art piece, i always go back to my trusted paints

Oh my gosh!! Your art is so amazing and inspirational! I was wondering as I’m an artist in the making, what pen did you use for your marker side to outline? Also the way you understand gouache in just little time of using it is just astonishing! Thank you for making your videos :))

I like both. I like the bright colour of the markers but I like the detail you can get with gouache

I could see my self using the painting method for textures as well as precise highlights but keeping it true to miles style markers look better and feel more on brand for him. Regardless love both and love watching your process and comparison videos 👍🏼

Glad you’re having fun with the gouache, mate. Haven’t tried markers or gouache myself, but having fun with whatever medium is the important thing, I think.

I would have liked to see you finish the guache side with line art like you did for the markers just to really see the full comparison. That said, it looked awesome without the line work so I don't blame you!

I adore the final look of the markers, but I do have to agree that gouache is more cost effective for the experience.

16:21 when looking side by side they both look wow!! But the marker is slightly better ! And cheaper. All it is. Is that you gotta plan. But with paint you can make mistake and repaint over it and you just gotta be really good at the details lol. Otherwise it's harder. Because with markers you knew where to colour in the outline of the original pencil Drawing 😍😜

Both amazing pieces and yet so different from each other. I LOVE the Gouache version for the color blends and smoothness, not to mention the depth and realism. I LOVE the Marker piece since it's giving me Comic Book / Graphic Novel vibes and this is more true to the character. Either way, amazing job on both pieces. This makes me want to go find my gouache set again...I'm sure they are dried out. XD

To be honest I love the combi. Seeing one picture with two different art medium(s) makes it great and fun to look at. I would hang the combi on my wall
