Is there a good way to track the mask points to the mouth footage? (to automate some of the mask moving - if the head moves/rotates a bit for example).

For best results a still head would be great. If that's not an option you can try tracking the face itself and then parenting a masking to the face that you tracked.

You want to add ear plugs to the person's ears? If that's what you are wanting you can track their ear, one by one!
