i tryed this checked every setting, but im still seeing some border of the black frame, its not complete transparent, any ideas what im doing wrong??

you must delete parts of the border - select the layer mask of the image and with the brush tool selected and black will be the foreground color just delete parts of the black frame.

Thanks for a great, simple to follow video that gives a great effect. How would you add a shadow to this border?

Hi, You can add shadow to the layer with image and mask, because the border is applying to the image and if you add shadow to the border is not working. You can select the layer with image and double click and on layer styles and select drop shadow. Or you can try another thing select the border layer and reduce the fill to 0 not the opacity, and then follow the same steps and finally select border layer and add shadow.

@@Ionigraphicdesigner Hi Ioni Thanks for replying to my question, I do appreciate you taking the time to respond. I have tried both of your suggestions. If I am following your advice correctly, they both make the edges of the image darker. But it also makes other parts of the image darker also, so it does not look quite right as a shadow. No matter what I change in the settings of the drop shadow it looks odd. I will keep experimenting. Thanks again for your help and excellent video.
