LED light strips can help light up any project. I'll cover how I used them in my laser enclosure and how to add a momentary switch to control them when opening and closing a door.

So you taught me that soldering isn't as difficult as I thought it would be! Thank you so much for this. I have had a soldering iron for about a year now, just haven't used it yet. Now that I know it's relatively easy to install, the creative thoughts are taking over my brain!! I recently got a diode laser, and this video just opened a whole new world of possibilities. Thank You! You have gained a new subscriber today :)

Great video. You know it's great when I know exactly how to do all of this, yet I still watch the video all the way through!

I'm an electrician so this stuff is easy for me but it's nice to see an explanation that shows how this works for people who don't know. Usually, I see explanations that assume that the people following know and understand something important but that is often not the case. This video explains it properly. Good stuff.

Thanks for that positive feedback! I don't claim to be an expert in anything and I still learn new things everyday. My hope is to give others the confidence to learn new things too. I try to find the balance of covering a topic in detail, without being too long and drawn out that people loose interest.

Saw the little dolls on your shelf. When I was a kid, I got an original GI Joe, for Christmas (mid-1960's). My brother got a Mr. Wizard's Experiments in Electronics Raytheon Lectron Science Toy. It was pretty cool. You could build different types of circuits with little magnetic blocks. I've got TONS of LED strips that I've never used. Good to see how easily they're customized. I was just thinking about adding lights to a new sign I cut out today.

These are not original GI Joes, but another company that came out with these highly detailed figures in the early 2000's I think. They work well in giant scale RC warbirds as pilot figures. I don't fly as much giant scale anymore but I keep them around as something cool for my aviation hobby. Thanks for watching!

I miss being able to drop in there to grab basic electronics supplies. I still have a couple rolls of radio shack solder but it's slowly disappearing.

Thanks for the great video! I’ve never done any wiring involving soldering so this was very informative. I guess it’s time to get some soldering equipment and supplies. Thanks Steve!

Thank you for the video. I recall seeing someone's video several years ago and asking them for a video like this. Now I have one. I did notice that there were no links for the strip lights themselves. Do you have a link to your favorite ones?
