a nice formula which could make things a little less complicated is Final position vector = Initial position vector + time(Velocity vector) *FPV = IPV + t(VV)*

I didn't get the oart of past paper question where particle p was moving with velocity of 20 m/s and it's direction was (3,4) Why did you multiplied velocity with the unit vector ?
