What stops a thief from simply moving this along and off the catch with a wire from outside?
@robforrest127394 жыл бұрын
I was wondering too. Surely the demo of the ‘break in’ they would just use the same tool to slide this off the latch before lifting it?

Add a zip tie, although does add to inconvenience.

@@robforrest12739 check out UK peppers guide 2:10 there is some kind of pressed barbed feature plus editing on this video said he had the wrong device fitted clearly it was very loose it looked to fit a lot tighter in said video uk peppers guide

I would be interested to know how many break ins there have been on caravan club sites in the last 10 years. I always feel very safe.

One thing that springs to mind if you use a tie wrap or something else to lock them in “fire escape” only saying

Hi Dan great product and review but I am a little concerned about the advice of using a cable tie etc to secure the lock in place I feel there is a safety issue there should anyone need to exit the van in a emergency if a window is the only option

As a newbie to this I’m finding your content a great resource but can I ask if it’s easy to lift the window handle with wire would it not be just as easy to use the same wire to hook off the lock and then open the handle as before. They don’t seem to fix on to the handles??
@StephenGallagher674 жыл бұрын
Great review Dan - thanks. I thought my van was secure as I upgraded the door lock, but will add these now. Will add zip ties too so the locks can't be hacked in the way someone identified in an earlier comment.

What about doing a door lock now ?
@paulefc19714 жыл бұрын
The door locks are absolutely useless, we got something called a Sam lock to stop our kid opening the door from the inside and I think it would stop someone opening it from the outside, but you have to be inside the caravan whilst it’s on the door handle

wouldn't the same tool ( wire ) used to jimmy open the latch be able to just slide this device off out the way, it didn't seem to clip in place?
@ashleyjohnson1908 Жыл бұрын
I know it's an old vid, but at what point are "visual deterrents" to stop them thinking about breaking in actually achieving the opposite? with so many deliberate visual things in place, are you saying to somebody looking to break in and steal valuable items that there is actually something worth protecting inside? and as you say they will then get in anyway? would the more sensible thing to do is to take out all valuables, and leave the blinds/curtains open slightly so they can see it's not worth the effort/risk?

Hi Dan. Do you think the Make m secure could be manipulated off the window latch in much the same way with a piece of wire?
@jacketrussell4 жыл бұрын
I've always thought that caravan window security was stuck in the 1950s. How do they get away with selling a £30000 caravan with such crap fittings?
@totaltouring97944 жыл бұрын
It’s because manufacturers aren’t listening to buyers. One day, a manufacturer will take heed and the rest will disappear
@paulefc19714 жыл бұрын
I suppose it doesn’t matter what fittings you put in place, someone will just as easily use a Stanley knife and. Just cut the plastic windows out if they want to get in that badly, as Dan says, they’re probably more useful for keeping young kids from opening the windows, my 3 year old specialises in opening all of the latches
@totaltouring97944 жыл бұрын
The only place these would possibly be of use is when the caravan is in storage. I’d rather spend money on better door locks, ( milenco)

Just one thing, fire escape
@mariealex57444 жыл бұрын
What a waste of money and just dangerous. They take 2 seconds longer to slide off and in the event of a fire you have a barrier stopping you from opening the window to escape in a rush. Just have very good insurance and relax.
