What I realize by observing the comments on those videos is that alot of Gen Z men/boys grew up with absentee or disengaged fathers. I think alot of them develop this sort of parasocial paternal relationship to these "alpha male"/ redpill motivational gurus to get a sense of the feeling that a father figure is coaching them or giving tough love. I think what we need a society is to encourage men to be involved fathers and real-life mentors to the younger generation of men so they don't feel like they have to hop on the internet to go find it.
@freedomismine46078 ай бұрын
You say that men need to take responsibility but you cannot be responsible for that which you have no authority over. It's not as black and white as "oh, well those men just need to man up and stop being such wusses!" A lack of masculine role models is a symptom of our broken system. It's a complex issue revolving around evolutionary psychology and female nature. We have a democracy where anyone is allowed to vote regardless of their contributions to society and when you understand female nature you come to the conclusion that the west has a cancer and that cancer is terminal. It's very easy to see a symptom - feminine men, directionless youth - and declare that to be the main problem (though it is a major problem).

Again, thank you Elisha. You have a rather unique gift, which is to identify and clearly articulate the many facets of an issue and consolidate it into a singular, crystalized realization. As such, the greatest gift that men can offer, which is to serve as a mentor and light to others who are searching, is in it's death throes. I remember when I first started out in life, the men who mentored me in finance, career, health, etc. were just astonishing to me. No matter how troubled they were in various areas of life, this ability to take time, energy, and focus to help another person was very compelling and it inspired me to mentor and help others in the future. It was amazing to see those I helped exceed what took me years to accomplish in only one year; this is what mentorship is all about.

This is where I’m at with it. I never had a strong male figure in my life. Without the internet, I wouldn’t know anything about “game” or stoicism. The “red pill” gets a bad rap, but a lot of the core teachings are solid for the long haul. “I’m the prize” mentality? Abundance versus scarcity. And more. Things that I might have taken 10 years and countless trial and error for me to figure out on my own. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen 40, 50, even 60 year olds in the comments talking about how they wish they would have watched a video sooner.

@@TonTon.2142 The red pill is suuuuper flawed which is an issue because like you said it has some good teachings in it. It's not just the rigidity either. Look at how high the bar is being set just by the examples of "real men" podcasters and entrepreneurs alone. These grifters are essentially setting up most men for failure because they will constantly feel like failures when comparing themselves to whom they listen to. Sure, its nice to hear an inspiring message from time to time. But we all know the reality of what your average man is capable of, and most of us are not going to be fcking millionaires or top %ers, and that's ok. We can all build a solid foundation with honest work and honest relationships no matter how mid you are in terms of status. And honestly, much of that comes from just lightening the fck up.
@brainrush35698 ай бұрын
Mediocrity is like a black hole constantly tempting us. It's all around us and we need to choose to constantly surround ourselves with the shouts of achievement. So, I'm all for men seeking out the wisdom and inspiration of greatness. One thing I agree with: indeed, men need to stop trying to be stoic rugged individuals. Not so they can have emotions, but to acknowledge that nearly no one achieved great things on their own. They must find a great team and learn to be a great teammate. Every great civilization was built by a team of men. The "rugged individual" cowboy crap destroyed the team culture that built the USA. We need each other. Join groups. Learn to be a team player at work. Make an unofficial fraternity that helps the community. Learn to suppress individual arrogance and nurture teammate confidence.

I just don't feel as if im discovering myself by being in an environment where all I see is drugs, alcohol and people being out of their minds. I would be lying to you If I said I dont look down upon it and I don't think I would find a good quality women there, I get attention from women often but most girls I meet out there just ends up being shallow meaningless sex which does nothing for me personally. Despite this though I do have some good bros, I can speak freely with judgement free, laugh and joke and have a good time so I dont mind missing out on that stuff. I believe theres no such thing as " discovering yourself " rather building yourself as a man by following your heart and passions and mine is the gym, being strong and building a great physique. I don't care what people think of me because I know myself I'm a good loyal person who treats people with respect always, thats what matters but I do find myself being closed off to people I meet in these clubs and bars because multiple times in the past when I try to connect with these people it just seems it backfires on me and I get betrayed In some sort of way both men and women, which is fine its their problem. That's I look so serious when I'm around that stuff, I understand its not an attractive aura but I would rather be this way than faking who I am just to fit in.
