I’ve tried so many times to get clean and failed and tonight I cried my heart out to God for help and I watched this video and her clean date is my birthday and I felt like that in itself is God’s way of giving me one big hug saying it’s going to be okay. My niece did everything Randi did, instead of jail and a awakening. She told her kids to go now and get the neighbors. She locked the bedroom door and got the gun. She was similarly age as Randi. I just had knee surgery they gave me pills. I see how it starts, seems doctors have alot to do with addiction. I don't think I needed such pills it put me in another world. If there was more then 14 pills I could have been in big trouble. Just because a doctor gives you drugs doesn't mean it's safe. I'd say strong pain pills are never safe... it's like driving really fast it's never safe....many things can happen.

Your story is so similar to hundreds of people that went through and experienced almost identical circumstances and many, like yourself, were able to dig down deep in their soul and pull themselves out of the pit of addiction. Then you have the others who can't seem to get out of their own way and they end up in jail ( prison) or dead. Congratulations Randi for having the courage to make a decision that saved your life and now your doing the best thing one who's gone through what you have to pay forward and share with others what it took for you to turn your life around. I took them for 30 years and NEVER abused them. I'm 58 years old with my whole spine deteriorated. Why do I have to pay for a crime you committed. Now I sit here waiting to die in pain because of people like you. The opioid crisis has caused over 50 million people living in chronic pain to suffer just like myself. This is wrong and inhumane allowing over 50 million suffer in sever pain.

She too felt pain.. and the doctor prescribed her the opioids and she became addicted. I don’t think it was ever her plan to become addicted to something that would literally ruin her life. People don’t just wake up and decide to become drug addicts. When someone struggles with addiction it’s usually due to other traumas they are coping with through the use of drugs. This woman shared her story so that she can potentially help others struggling with addiction. There’s an opioid epidemic and she’s doing a part to help by sharing her experiences.

My story is very similar to hers as it was 2007 and I had bent over to pick something up and it felt as though someone had shot me in the back with a shotgun. Luckily I was with a friend of mine at the time and she drove me to a local after hours clinic where they prescribed me oxycodone. I couldn't even stand straight up and had to walk hunched over. I immediately scheduled an appointment with my chiropractor for the next day thinking I'd thrown my back out or something as I'd just had a 10 lb baby 7 months earlier. I arrived thinking it would be a simple as getting an adjustment and that's when he was testing my reflexes and noticed I had what's called drop foot. Immediately he told me I had probably herniated a disc in my back. He prescribed me more pain meds to get me through to my appointment with the spine doctor. It was during that time that I realized just how much I liked how the pills made me feel. I felt like Supermom. It just seemed to make everything so much more enjoyable and I became a lot more social whenever I would be around people as though I had no fear of but what they would think of me as I'd had SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER really bad prior to getting on the pain meds. I could talk to ANYONE and EVERYONE and actually even ENJOYED IT. I remember I would take a couple pain meds and head out for a walk with my kids and my dog and while walking I would be looking at the trees and the flowers and it was as though I just appreciated things so much more and thought everything was so beautiful......which I later learned was because of the EUPHORIA the pills were making me feel. I just never wanted the feeling to go away and wanted to feel like that all the time which was when I started abusing the meds because the longer I took them the less effect my prescribed dose had on me so I would take an extra pill when I was only a supposed to take 2.... I'd take 3 or 4 and so on. Later on I learned they call that "Chasing the Dragon".... You're basically trying to reach that same level of euphoria that you felt when you 1st started taking them. That roller coaster went on for 5 yrs. I eventually got back surgery in 2013 Which resulted in the pain meds being stopped.

“ I was getting 90 Percocet a week ...and then I found out if I didn’t take it I’d get sick, not from the Tylenol but the Percocet “....really? 90 Percocet a week? The withdrawal would be absolutely brutal with those doses! It’s all about the fear of the withdrawal...the physical symptoms of withdrawal from taking 90 Percocet a week would be the scariest and most horrible 10 days of someone’s life and go thru it once you’ll never take a painkiller again....what doctor would prescribe someone that amount of pills if they weren’t dying of cancer? No injury requires 90 percs a week...
@garethkalber72365 жыл бұрын
It depends on the dosage honestly. If it were 5mg or 30mg tabs is a different story. The amount she was taking would kill a normal human but honestly once you build a tolerance to them the first 70 probably did nothing for her. Also this attitude is a huge part of the problem, it can't be simplified like this. I'm guessing you haven't ever suffered severe chronic pain and taken them? I have used them for legit pain so many times and right now am on a huge dose again because I am 4 months post knee operation and I just blew my shoulder. I am terrified of getting off these pills due to withdrawals, my doctor wants to taper slowly off which is the best way but it's also hard because your pain goes up as the dose goes down. Without these pills I would be in bed everyday doing nothing, Instead I am present, I play with my kids, I have fun with my wife BUT they also are horrible in many ways and not a long term solution. If you were put in my position, you could be a normal person, albeit a fake normal person by taking these pills or a genuine person who is in bed and can't talk or move and most likely will lose marriage as a result. I think my response is a little more generalize and not totally directed at your comment by itself, it's just such a complicated issue and needs conversations not black or white statements. I face so much shame that I am on these pills, almost all of which comes from people who have never been injured in their lives.

I agree about reaching your hand to someone in need, but, still, that person has TO WANT to get help. You can’t just force it on someone. It begins with them. And, I’ve been there and can tell you it’s a great way to get big time ripped off.

Its when the withdrawal hits that you truly know you're screwed unless of course you find or get more and ignore it for the meantime. At a point you find yourself unable or with tough luck then you're screwed and scared. My advice is take it as prescribed or in lesser doses. If your pain is very bad especially at night find a sleep aid to take it with so that you find some rest that night. When you're without or in withdrawal and you feel critically ill go get some loperamide take some in moderation its a legal opioid sold OTC not to give you the same pain relieving effects but to calm your cns and stomach issues. Learn and notice how your body works day by day and stay positive for you will get better. If you relapse just remember you will have to do this all over again.

Multnomah County Health Department and I'm also reaching out to the woman who told her story...I am working full time and caring for my kids and getting ready for my sons bday n graduation party and my daughter's 8th grade graduation party. One thing about me that I cant feel bad about or my self worth would crumble n jeopardize my sobriety is that I'm on a low dose of methadone. I seem to need it. I have tried 28 days off of it and still hadn't eaten and had to be helped up. I felt horrible. I drug myself to dr and he said some ppl like me who have been on methadone awhile it kind of hijacks your brain and it's not an easy trip back. I had to care for my 2 kids, pay my Bill's and go to work so they suggested I head back to clinic n take the lowest dose I could to function n make it through day on my 2 feet. I bawled my eyes out knowing how I damaged my brain. Drugs really do cause brain damage. You are no longer making the chemicals you need to feel normal. So I'm on a low dose I get in my work line 3 days a week n get 4 take home bottles on Wednesday. It's just for now just for today. I dont go to meetings bc I hear they judge ppl on methadone and that's not helpful. Everyone is different n I just wasnt bouncing back after a month on nothing n had many responsibilities. It does help if u use it properly n I do not get a high from it. I know u could if u took a bunch but if u just take ur dose once every 24 hrs like any other med then that's what it feels like...any other med. Thank you and I pray u all get well no matter what way works for you. You deserve it and have much to offer. Addicts are some of the wisest ppl I've met in my 36 years. Share what u have to offer.

Your story is very eye opening. I am 33 yrs old, and technically going on 4 yrs sober. I say technically because I am on suboxone. I have not used an opiate is almost 4 years, but because of the suboxone some people wouldn't view me as "sober." Therefore, almost no ones knows. My husband and sister do, but they are sooo supportive and never make me feel any less than accomplished! So, I may not know exactly how you feel because we are all different with different circumstances. But I can empathize with your situation. Best of luck! And f@#$ those who view us any other way. We are doing what we can to better our lives. Remember to give yourself ALOT of credit for that. Happy holidays to you and your family!!

@@ashleycapps1720 thank you I appreciate that because I am made to feel very bad about myself. Last month I finally decided to find strength in myself and cut myself off from the people who kept rolling their eyes at me, whispering to each other every time I got home from the clinic and ridiculing me every time I said something I thought was something to be proud of. Example....I said to my mom and sister " I went down another 10 mg today so as long as I feel ok I can keep going down" . They both look at each other then say...that's ridiculous if you wanted to stop taking it you would just stop. I don't care about your situation at the clinic. My mother said that. So I stopped telling her anything. They just don't talk to me. But last month I decided to strengthen myself and decide that I am enough and I am okay and I'm not doing anything wrong so I'm going to the side on my own to stop shaming myself and look at them as the ones who have something wrong with them. Because I am a mother also and I could never not support my child I have two children and I love them for their wrongs and for their rights and for their faults and for everything else about them. So I've chosen to stop feeling bad about myself for being on methadone because no one knows or they don't know what it feels like and anyone educated knows I can't just stop going I would be in hell. I wouldn't even be able to work and doctors don't even recommend you just walk away from a clinic without a taper so I had to realize I was talking to uneducated people. And if they dont Like me then that's okay. I didn't choose this life and I didn't know we would end up here. 13 years ago I was a nurse and I was a damn good one. N I hurt myself Lifting a patient off of the toilet and I started getting shots in my back and I woke up to a prescription of 90 Percocet. I started taking them for the back pain and I had trouble getting off of them I never even used heroin. But I was taking a lot a lot of pain pills. I was very sick and they ran out and I was advised to go to the clinic and Here we are three years later. I dont want to be on methadone but everytime I try to stop i dont feel normal. It's going to take a lot for my brain to go back to normal and to produce the chemicals that it used to and that's very sad but it is the reality of what I'm dealing with. and it's the reality of what millions of people are dealing with. I just am not going to feel bad about it anymore I don't get high I don't go out and party I don't drink I don't smoke and I can't help at this stage that things are the way they are. So I advise everyone on here to lift ourselves up and strengthen themselves and not let anyone put you down or belittle you because all that means is that they are very uneducated and you can't speak on things that you are non educated on. I hope everything goes well for you also and I congratulate you on your four years of sobriety. I'm very glad you have support to that's very important. your husband and sister sound like good people. God bless

@@randialldritt3102 you are the kind of person that is one in a million. Believe it or not I have some friends who get clean and after going through that journey chose to look down at the ppl they once were. I'm always shocked by that. I love what you are doing. I use my journey to be wiser and kinder also. Some ppl in my life I will never be able to talk to bc they say no addiction is a choice bottom line and they don't want to hear anything else. I just put them in a group that just chose not to educate themselves. Even if its hurting the bond w certain family members they want nothing to do with knowing anything about it but that's ok. We just dont talk about it. But I think ppl like you are exceptional. I'm so happy about your success story. I'm just learning now not to live in shame. I work 60 hrs a week, I have a home of my own, a car, my son is in the military and has a savings account and brand new car at 19 yrs old and good head on his shoulders, my daughter gets honor roll, I live a normal life. I made the decision about a yr ago that I'm not living with my head down just bc I take a small dose of medication every morning. I'm 37 and I've lived in shame way too long. Yes I take a small dose of methadone each morning and I only go to the clinic now 2x a month to pick up 13 bottles. My life is full. I have a savings account. I go on vacations. I've tried multiple times to get off of it and I cant function or even get up. Its upsetting but I cant live thinking about that daily. In the end it's such a small detail of my life. I help ppl...I'm generous and I do the best I can every day. And Randi you are such a blessing to ppl everywhere that can hear your story.

There is a BIG DIFFERENCE between a DRUG ADDICT.. and a LEGITIMATE CHRONIC PAIN PATIENT... SHE IS AN ADDICT AND ALWAYS WILL BE.. SHE DID IT BY CHOICE.. A CANCER PATIENT with Pain is NOT A CHOICE... IT'S A NEED... people like her, are making thousands of REAL PATIENTS in need of their PAIN MEDICATION....
@kimbrown39504 жыл бұрын
Truth Seekers No! It’s the government threatening to charge Doctors with drug trafficking making it difficult for chronic pain patients to get pain meds. Randi was a victim of lacks regulation where drug companies were enabled to make thousands of addicts out of ppl who didn’t need pain meds, and now the government is trying to deprive people who need pain meds of the medications they need. If you must blame someone please place the blame in the proper place.

As the girl in this video, I am sorry that it’s difficult for cancer patients, or people in extreme chronic pain to get pain medication. It was not my intention when I got addicted to the medication. What started out as a back injury turned into a chapter of my life that I didn’t see coming. If you are one of those people that has difficulty getting the medication you need I am sorry your going through that. I cannot take back what is in the past but I am able to make living amends by my everyday actions. I just took 9 years of clean time and am not repeating my past. Not all addicts or recovering addicts are bad people. We just went through a dark chapter and can now feel deeper in life. God bless ❤️

*What you are witnessing here is theatrics.* I was completely disabled in the latter 70's. I had so much damage I was never supposed to get off a gurney... If I survived. Severe Chronic Pain should have been an easy issue to overcome if what she was saying was true. Severe Chronic Pain Medication showed itself as being a huge problem that would be with me for the rest of my life, even though living in many states and getting many Doctors. My Severe Chronic Pain Issues were easily revealed. Yet getting proper medical treatment for pain was tremendously difficult to achieve. Even by the early 90's Pain Clinics were already up and running and getting proper treatment already nearly impossible. The first time I got out of the hospital I was immediately introduced to this, the world of torture. Getting high doses like even Percocet 5 was even worse. My multitude of Severe Chronic Pain types and Issues was a no brainer for even a mediocre Doctor to find. And yet she was getting ten times the relief for a couple injuries than I was getting for a multitude of easily revealed and very severe pain issues. *Ibprophen and Advil and Motrim* did not exist at that time and so her reference to it also kind of time-stamps her injury period. The differences between her issues causing pain and my issues causing pain, is simply way to great for her video to be anything but threactics by her. The above, makes this video an utter fraud put out by governmental agencies producing propaganda to enhance torturing Severe Chronic Pain Sufferers even more. For her everything was so very gloomy... Sure. Just a couple minor back problems she stated that could have been controlled by... *I take 2 advil and I am good all day.* lies and hype.
