the pilchuck had those river monsters in the 60's early 70's even early 80's I hooked a few, 28+ lbs ished with 12-14 lb test mono, give em a chance . .

I’ve never understood how beads work with that big a gap between the bead and hook. How do you land fish when they’re eating a bead 3 inches from the hook? Maybe the bead slides down. Idk. Never fished beads

I used to be confused until I started doing it. Usually when your bead fishing the hooks is the same size or smaller than the bead. Therefore if the bead was right next to the hook it would just pop out of the fishes mouth. But when the bead is two inches from the hook the fish bite the bead and the hook gets pinned on the outside of the fish's mouth.

@ oh wow so when you fish beads you’re trying to hook them in the face? Not the inside of the mouth? Why not just run the hook thru the bead? Idk just seems very hard to get a good hook set like that. Seems like it would take much luck to land one that way

@ I guess the hook would be too small to run it thru the bead. I don’t think I would ever want to fish a method where you are intentionally trying to foul hook fish. Sounds about like snagging
