We are so lucky on lake michigan! No sea lions. No checking for clipped fins. And a 5 fish limit with no closed season. Also with the alewives coming back the size is getting back to the heyday of the 80s.

I'm not really familiar with the rules and regs for the fishing out there. What happens when a seal grabs the fish and fatally wounds it, and it's a wild, what do you do with it? You can't just throw it back because it won't survive, and it's unsportsmanlike like.

Id love some advise... I want to go out for some salmon and only have a drift boat with no motor. I was thinking about drifting the Trask River in a few weeks when it starts to get good after the fish push up more. What sort of rigs should I throw on doing that style of fishing. Watched a bunch of your guys' drift fishing videos and figured a bobber bait rig or a spinner would work best. Any advice? Id love to see a video of you guys drifting that river!

I think that when fish have cuts on the side, it could come from being hooked on the side. They fight so hard to get away, they literally rip a hole in the skins to get away.
