I can't believe he found them again, little man is on a roll again! Today we venture back out into the woods in search of mushrooms and some salmon. The only problem is the river is SOOOO high, It's going to be tough fishing. The day ends up being perfect, I'm excited for you guys to see this episode. If I don't have things TIED to me, I lose them from word go. I lost my favorite fishing shirt last summer. I'd taken it off, stuffed it into my pack, and thought I'd zipped the pack up. I'd been circling and fishing on the steep, tree-choked side of a little alpine lake and thought I'd never be able to backtrack and find that shirt. I ended up coming back the next day and not more than 50 feet around the lake, there was my shirt on the other side of a big old log I'd scrambled over the day before. I was a happy camper for sure!

I watched a video on Fishing With Rod about side channels built on the Vedder River. These channels are off channels as a sanctuary for fish to spawn in and seek refuge in a flood event. One statistic was it helped wild salmon with a 40% INCREASE in population. How cool would that be for WA. and Ore.!? Sounds like something Cam may have knowledge about. We should try to have that implemented out here.

I fish for steelhead and browns inside a harbor in lake Michigan. I have seen some up in the water column. The harbor is up to 20ft deep. Would fishing the jig like you do in the video be effective?

Jordan’s a hell of mushroom picker but he’s spreading misinformation. Chanterelles don’t a have a “smell” like a matsutake does. It’s okay pick chanterelles it’s cleaner cutting the stem. Leaving stems to rot does not ensure new mushrooms will grow. The spores are under the top of the shroom that’s how they grow new ones when it’s washed down hill in the rain. Leaving rotting stems can cause new ones to rot faster. Pick cut and flick. Cauliflower mushrooms don’t feed off of downed timber, they tap with one root into a live trees root system. And definitely not a matsutake for the last mushroom.
