Addiction: Matthew Emrick

I traveled to Dayton, Ohio to Good Shepard Ministries (www.thegsm.net/) to interview a few guys there. The first was Matthew Emrick who battled alcohol addiction. He was a skateboarder, saw some jail time and this is what his life is like today.

I hope Matt is still doing well. I ran into Matt a few times when he was homeless on the streets about 15 years ago when my friends and I would ride BMX in downtown Dayton. Matt lived between the old Fridgidaire factory on Monument and Howard Papermill on Edwin C. Moses. I befriended another homeless man Matt hung out with named Shawn Kepley, but unfortunately Shawn died at around the same time as this video was taken from an overdose. Its unfortunate because Shawn was a great guy - computer programmer and very smart but couldn't shake the addiction. Please share the message with Matthew if he's still reachable. Thanks.

👋 ... ya doin some #TruthTalkin... times like now, I’m sure ya helpin... cause we know truth n they do too !! N will look 👀 n realize from seein ppl. That wanna help n been there without judgement.. n knowin where to go helps when they see how positive the outcome can be, Thanks 🙏 for sharing.. the power is there n ya can feel it soon as ya see it n ppl are so understanding n welcoming for whatever reason ya there,.. they have so many programs there to help you get ya life together.. !!
