Sorry for you loss, but so grateful that you are showing it all. The good and the bad. I understand how making a video every day can be a lot but I’m really enjoying these daily behind the scenes. I really wish you will just keep going beyond the 30 days.

Hey Ryan. Don't often comment on KZbin but been watching your vids on/off since the early (non-Prestige) days and this one struck a chord. I have a Golden Angel in one of my systems that I picked up from an LFS you've visited I think a long time ago - Reef Secrets on the Gold Coast. Anyway, based on my experience I think you've definitely done the right thing. If that tray has any amount of small sponges/tunicates on the live rock that should kick start the feeding response, especially once the quarantine chemicals are no longer present. If there's none obvious in the tray already and you have live rock in a sump there's usually lots on there! If mine is anything to go on once they're feeding, they will pretty much eat anything - mine smashes flake food like you wouldn't believe. Despite being a cryptic fish that do tend to hide a lot they can settle in nicely and mine is out and about a lot these days and is definitely one of my favourites. Good luck, nice to see someone who genuinely cares about the animals in their care!!

I feel the way to qt is to setup a tank that is the same parameters as the one it's going to go into, rock etc. But use it as an observation tank, not treat the fish with harsh chemicals from day 1. I feel like if they show signs, then yes, treat them as they may die. Just my 2 cents, hope it all goes well mate.

I think often ppl don't consider or just ignored losses that happened due to quarantine. Not saying that it is definitely due to Quarantine. But I loss less fishes when I stopped Quarantine. And ppl kept telling me you are playing russian roulette, but yet to happen yet and I haven't have any unnecessary loses yet in 15 years.

My Chinese blue line didn’t eat anything for about three weeks but it was pecking at the rocks and the tank wall until it started eating frozen. I have 250kg of old mature rock for it to peck at until it took to frozen.

Sorry about the flame… always have to think you’re quarantining to protect all your other (many other) fish in the waterbox, but still sad that some don’t make it.

I have to say the more I see on Qting fish the more I think I'd sooner risk it without. Move the angel fish

Consider looking into the tank transfer method (TTM) method. Or the hybrid TTM. I haven't tried it, so I can't endorse, but I've heard good things.

I’ve done it and it is a lot of work, but worth it, as I have seen the other side of not Qt’ing!

When CP became available I dropped copper right away. easily purchased here in USA. Chloroquine Phosphate. I’m sorry you had to euthanize, I’ve had to do that to an old clown friend that I miss very much.

Very sorry about the poor flame angel, I hope the gold makes it! I have a question; which specific tests do you recommend for calcium, alkalinity and magnesium? I mistakenly got the API reef master kit when I started and discovered that it was so horrifically inaccurate that it was completely useless, so not knowing which tests are actually trustworthy I haven't replaced them yet because I don't want to waste my meagre funds on stuff I can't trust.

Are you recommending that we don't use CopperPower for QT? I have fish in quarantine and want to be successful.
@PrestigeReef8 күн бұрын
No recommendations here, copper power is widely used, I will continue to use it, just at different strength for a different amount of time.
