This is something I've done in my own city. I actually planned out 2 realistic-ish buslines that both stretch to the main central station. 1 bus line heads into the downtown and industrial part of the city and the other goes to the more rural and urban parts. Definitely something that a lot of Lego builders overlook! Great idea!

Reading this reply and looking back over the video? I am having that same thought. Those trees were nice, but they do kind of blend in. Yeah a variation in the leaf colors could do some good even if they are background details. Not a bad idea.
@Montyh7
@Montyh7 Жыл бұрын
I think that's the point. Too many variations, draw your eye for no pay off. He's added trees for height and variance without being obtrusive or taking your line of sight from the tunnel which draws the focus. I could be wrong though.

*"Isn't a sideroad right after a tunnel a bit dangerous?"* It might be dangerous, but sideroad right after a tunnel does exist in real life. Yes in real life, there would likely be a mirror, but there would also be triangle warning signs showing sideroad ahead or diamond priority road signs on main road. A stop sign or a yield would make sense on the sideroad, but stop sign would more sense, since it's right next to the tunnel. Coming out of the tunnel, there would also be a warning sign with a image of a train, since there's no barriers.

Instead of a little house, why don't you use that patch of land for the parking slot? It wouldn't be too tall to cover up the tunnel, it makes sense that you would put a small parking slot before a "no car zone", and could preserve the rustic look of the old town without modifing it for a parking space inside the town itself.
@Lop44

it would be neat to have some scenes going on with minifigures throughout the layout, such as a lost dog, or a car crash, or even a picnic with ants on it. it could make looking around the city a lot more fun!

An idea for cars could be instead of a new building adding a gravel parking lot keeping the view of the tunnel as well as removing cars from the town. You could also add some poles or barriers between the new parking space and the town to show visually from a far why there are no cars in the town.
@livingchutoy5422
@livingchutoy5422 Жыл бұрын
That could work. Maybe he can make a small roadside produce stand right there just off where the cars park. Add a few garden details around a few of the houses on top of that. Make it look like a community thing. Near where I am the Amish tend to do that. Several families will grow vegetables and sell them at a nearby stand by the road.

The spot you have to put a building on, you could make a parking lot, so you wouldnt even need to worry about a new building. Also it could integrate into the engine house as the train workers cars too

The place you have set aside for another building could be used for a small dirt or cobble parking lot which would keep the sight lines to the tunnel and give the shortest route for cars to drive, maybe a small tourist kiosk with information about the village

Something I always thought would be cool when I was a kid, was if there was a bubble in the middle of a lego city that a person could go under the city and put there head up into so they could see the "inside" of the city! Of course, now there are cooler things, like small cameras that can do the same thing!

Hey Brickcrafts, awesome builds once again. I have a small remark about the windmill in the background of the tunnel part. I think you should remember that mills have a purpose. They can e.g. be used to process wheat into flour, to power a lumber operation, to drain water from a piece of land, to extract oil from seeds, etc etc. It might be a good idea to figure out why that mill is situated there, since there are no wheat fields around nor is there a lumbyard. Also it is in a hilly area, and those dont need the water drainage. Adding e.g. a small wheat field or a small lumber operation around it would really add to the overall logic in the LEGO City!

For the old town, you could always say that the main road connecting to the town's road is for old style horse drawn carraiges. Here in the US, we have Amish that ride on public roads but then into their towns, and there are plenty of other areas that still use them for farm deliveries if it's not too far. If you wanted to keep the feel of the old style and not worry too much about adding parking spaces.
