Your small paintings are so playfull and filled with openness and spontaneity - so attractive. I see a lot of abstracts in each little painting you do - it’s really amazingly fun to work with abstracts as a kind of visual music - happy painting 🎶🌷🎵🩷😄

I love your content, your voice is beautifully soothing, the only distracting part of this video is the background music that is just one repetitive note-it makes it hard to concentrate on your words.

Thanks so much! That’s great feedback, thank you. I’ve tried to take it down a notch in my newer videos. Let me know if you still find it distracting

Hello Jeannine. I live in South Africa and have just started my "discovering art" journey at the age of 55. I recently discovered you and I just have to say how I LOVE your color palette and your art. Thank you for being so generous with your art and sharing it here for people like myself. It really is appreciated and means the world to someone like me. I have a few questions to ask you about products seeing that we don't always have access to products you use here in South Africa. Or if we do, it costs an arm and a leg!! Will it be possible for me to email you? And secondly, I have just finished watching the above video and cannot seem to find the next one "part 3". Is there one out there? I am SO enjoying watching your process and would love to see it all the way to the end. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I apologize that it is so lengthy!

I just discovered your painting series and am enjoying it ….. it’s actually very calming to watch ! I like the paint in the small bottles for ease in use. Can you share if you have a medium mixed in the bottles with the paint and I am assuming you are buying paint and transferring it into the bottles? Look forward to seeing more videos. Thanks.

Thanks so much! Really glad you’re enjoying the series. I mix my paint with a little water and a little bit of Jackson’s Acrylic Flow Medium www.jacksonsart.com/jacksons-acrylic-flow-medium-500ml?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292 Just so the consistency is a little more fluid. Yes, I usually buy the 500ml bottles of Daler Rowney System 3 Acrylics www.jacksonsart.com/daler-rowney-system-3-acrylic?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292 and decant them into the small bottles. I find it much quicker to get paint out of the smaller bottles while I’m painting.

I notice that you like colorful complicated abstract pieces. Some of your initial panels are good as-is, if your into simple monochromatic ones. A little color touches here there maybe would make them interesting… 🙏🏻😊

Thank you! I do like the depth and interest lots of layers give my final pieces. For me personally there isn’t enough in the early layers yet, but of course there are many ways to approach this!

Gorgeous art! May I ask, after you apply pastels, do you need to spray them with a fixative before you varnish your final painting, or is that unnecessary ?
@jclosestudio
@jclosestudio 11 ай бұрын
Thank you! i do spray them with a fixative, but that's usually not enough. Before I varnish I dab a little gloss medium over any pastel and water-soluble media to make sure it's sealed in. I show how I do that in my Neocolour II video if you want to see it in action kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5fbp56pjr6chac

I, too, want to know about the bottles, how long do they last, and what is in them? Please
@jclosestudio

Hi Laura! I mainly use Daler Rowney System 3 Acrylics www.jacksonsart.com/daler-rowney-system-3-acrylic?___store=jacksonsart_en&acc=2d00f43f07911355d4151f13925ff292 I buy those in the 500ml bottles and decant them into the small bottles. I use them fairly frequently, so they've never dried out. But if you don't use them for a few months I would check on them and add a bit of water and shake it up. That way they should last pretty much indefinitely.

You seem to use the same size of wood board - what size do you use for these? They look as if they are 30x30cm ?
@jclosestudio
@jclosestudio Жыл бұрын
Yes, these are 30x30 cm (technically 30.5 x 30.5 cm cause they are 12 x 12 inches)

Hi Jeanine. Do you ever use a canvas? Why panels?
@jclosestudio
@jclosestudio Жыл бұрын
Hi Ali. I do, but mainly for larger pieces. I like working on wood panels because the surface is much firmer. That way it’s much easier to use certain techniques, like sanding or scratching into it.
