This series has revolutionized my forehand. I was spending a ton of energy trying to snap my wrist and getting very little distance. Even just the mental image of throwing a hammer has made my forehand start to click and I'm getting way more distance with way less effort. This guy is so good.. honestly Every aspect of the game is A+ instructional. I have a hard time with forehand consistency, it's odd cuz when you take stills of me pitching a baseball up untill 20 years I have a pretty wicked sidearm... Only thing that helped me was lower body focus, and at the "hammer hit point" making sure my Palm / deep Palm.. pretty much the base of the wrist is projected in the direction I'm aiming.. this creates that lag, and boom rips your wrist action! Feels so easy when it all times up right

Hello, great explenation series about the forehand💯%👍 But I have one question about the nose angle, I can throw flat on forehand but to throw nose down is hard. Are you suposed to throw nose down on forehand and then bring the disc upp at the same time and then release the disc🤪? How does that work? I have tried but, is it even possible? I think maybe this is why I'm lacking in distance? Gratefull for some answers or a fifth video about that, thanx in advance👍🙏

You talk about having the front/lead arm at that 90 degree angle. I wonder if as disc golf forms advance, you'll see something like MLB pitchers do with their glove/lead arms. Where they throw it out straight and then rip it back towards their bodies to get more torque. In Eagle's video on sidearms, you can kind of see that change depending on how hard he is throwing the disc.
@@traceturner3329 he's not pulling the glove into his body I was a pitcher and what u do is leave ur arm there and turn into it which is what's happening it gives the illusion of pulling the glove in but that's not what u do

Lag! I've been watching slo-mos of pros and also baseball sidearm tutorials. It's the lag. Even Sexton, who seems stiff like maybe he's pushing, he's got a lot of lag at the hit. Everybody also seems to have throwing elbow up to start, then swings it down and forward to leave disc behind. A good elbow "swing thought"?
@OverthrowDiscGolf2 жыл бұрын
Yep. A lot of guys do it that way with the elbow swinging in and down. Good thought

Another great video.- The first video helped me and my buddy immediately just thinking about the hammer (as we like to say... "Hammer Time").- Now we can use this to build on the first one.- The idea of keeping the elbow and wrist inline is just hitting me in the face like "YEA! Try me out!!!".- I can't wait for the next.- Maybe you can do a backhand breakdown like this too...
@OverthrowDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
So glad to help. We plan on hitting some backhand aspects hard in future videos. Not sure when we will build one from scratch though.

The disc lag absolutely happens in the backhand as well. You also want the hips to lead the torso to lead the shoulder to lead the elbow yada yada very similar really.
@OverthrowDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
It does! Hopefully I didn’t say that it doesn’t happen in the backhand. If I did it was unintentional
@waynejimenez92433 жыл бұрын
Any suggestions on the " level" of shoulders... looks like you dip the back shoulder a bit... wouldn't that send the path of the disc up?
@OverthrowDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
Since you’re dropping your elbow down a little bit to get into the slot it makes since for the right shoulder to drop and left to go up a little bit in their rotation. If I were throwing an anhyzer you would see the opposite happening. Maybe not so important to worry about the shoulder angle but instead allowing them to rotate fully and naturally
@kieronmckay42762 жыл бұрын
How do we square comparing to Eagle's technique with the fact that he's recently hurt his arm doing these and the guy is so young? Not asking to be a jerk, asking because I think doing this and not destroying your shoulder and elbow is a really important part of throwing far...
@OverthrowDiscGolf2 жыл бұрын
Right. That’s a tough one considering how Eagle got hurt. He wasn’t doing a normal forehand and didn’t warm up properly. Add to that he throws absolute bombs and you’re left guessing. Injury happens to the best athletes in sports and sometimes it’s not due to faulty form. Sometimes it isn’t. Sorry for the non answer answer but I don’t think eagles throwing mechanics are bad.

So would you still advise the hammer drill from the first video or is that not a good idea either?
@OverthrowDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын

Great stuff guys. Really changed how I think about the sidearm throw quite a bit. Quick question: Did you ever have a breakthrough in your form which you then lost after some time? How would you go about getting back to the better form? Cheers from Germany and keep it coming
@OverthrowDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
Usually when you lose the breakthrough you lost track of the mindset that got you there in the first place. For example, if you were a good putter and thought “shake hands with the basket”. You did that for a couple months and then you learned something new and replaced the image that worked. Like “make sure my downswing does this.” You need to go back to the original image that created the right action whatever that was. Usually people lose it when they replace or add something to the thing that already worked.

How would you address someone with a good forehand and no disc lag like Ezra Aderhold? Him and Tristan Tanner discovered this in their new video together
@OverthrowDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
I saw that! Interesting since he can get it like 70 mph. I’d have to talk to him to find out what he thinks the motion is. I generally try to get someone’s understanding of the motion in their own words and then address the way they visualize the stroke. Usually there is something wrong with their understanding so you have to overwrite that before trying anything. Most likely he is trying to push the disc or he doesn’t understand how spin is added. Then it’s a matter of finding out what pictures and drills work for him.
