Back in 1996 I moved with my family from Missouri to Wisconsin, my dad took a job up there and his coworker connected him with a farmer guy who had a place for us to stay. Long story short he had one of these 4440 beasts and he used to let me ride with him as a kid and back then it was the coolest thing ever for me...cool to see some video of the old thing.

Oh how I love working dirt! I get to do that a lot, disking, running the field cultivator on it, then the turbo-till right ahead of the planter in first crop soybeans. Oh so much fun!!!!

It’s definitely one of my favorite things from growing up ... I always joke with Jas that I miss “row crop life” the first week of spring and about the 3rd week in September during harvest.

I just subscribed one minute ago. What a pleasant surprise. I am also a north east Missouri farmer; and I live about 60 miles north of you. Have followed on KZbin, first, Zach in Minnesota, Laura since she started a year ago in Nebraska, and Cole in Iowa for over a year. You are doing things so familiar to me. I was mostly cash grain; but I've also had cattle and hogs. Grew up and started red (the hot rods-IH/Case-IH) then switched to green (Deere). Thank-you for your efforts . (maybe some merch.?) - Missouri farmer, Doug

We had a 4520 John Deere tractor set up 38inch centers for row crop it had the old style long axles, we removed the outer duals after planting. Then had to adjust the inner rim and slide them out to the 38inch proper width we did that one year and I told my dad we needed to return the wheel s before I went up to one of our farms to cultivate beans he said let's wait till in the morning. Ok dad I left and it was 6 miles to that farm I went up the highway two miles turned off on the gravel got to the field went about 200 feet and the right wheel came off tractor fell and axle caught the on the rim and held the the wheel upright. I went to my cousins farm shop called home and told my mom we had a problem to have dad bring a Jack and some blocks and the 3/4 wrench and socket set he was there in about twenty minutes... He never said a thing after that when I mentioned it was time to retorq anything....

Does it matter much that inner tires are new and outer dual is worn way More smaller diameter?I assume inner tires look to be Cary more of the load.I hope you also checked the torque on them lug bolt after mounting them on

Kayla, you mentioned summer school, is that normal or because of covid they are behind? I too always really liked turning over dirt,the aroma of fresh turned dirt is a special part of farming, getting ready for planting.

Hi Kayla from Fairview Hts, Ill.............why not leave the dual hubs on the axles and drop the duals when not need, just saving labor time ??
@ChroniclesofKayla
@ChroniclesofKayla 3 жыл бұрын
We just got the duals setup in January at a sale! So I think that’s his plan - to just take off the duals as needed because I can’t run with duals during Hay Season. We had to the move the tires in a tad and little worried about running my hay row over now - so we’ll see how the setup is in a few weeks. We rarely need the use of duals he also said. We don’t work ground often.
