I have used a very different approach to dust collection on my saw using the stand as a drop box (with a door) with dust port near the top and a high CFM collector and open back of the saw this collects near all of the dust. It appears to work better than a similar approach to yours I’d tried earlier.

Yeah, I think CFM is my issue here too. Tough to get adequate airflow in a small shop when you can't get a big dust collector in.

Excellent instructional video. Just finishing up my restoration of a 35 yo Grizzy contractors saw (G1022); looking for some base cabinet ideas....this video was very helpful

I have the same/similar saw and it's on a steel box, unlike wood like yours. I dont really want to cut into it, sort of sentimental to me, but you gave me some great ideas!

How many people thought he was going to cut the tin with the table saw? Lol 😅

Generally not a great idea, haha

I have used a magnetic sheet for the movable portion with good results.

Excellent Video. This will be my wknd (hopefully only 1!) project in a few weeks. How hard was it to upgrade to the biesemeyer fence for delta contractor saw?

Thanks. Can't say for the fence, my dad installed that before I was born.

To account for when the blade tilts, attach a piece to the arbor. Leave the piece on the back of the saw large enough to clear the arbor.
@GlennFrazeeYT4 жыл бұрын
I was trying to figure out a way to do that, but kept running into issues with it hitting the bottom of the saw bed.

@@GlennFrazeeYT I commend you for trying. I haven't done so yet.

I recently built a simular set up for my 40 year old Craftsman table saw. I wish I would have known about the plastic piece. Also the duct tubing is a great idea.
@RedcarWW2 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what I asked 2 other people that completed a very similar configuration. They put the backing on with what appeared to be no consideration of the motor tilt. At first I agree with Glenn that it's worth dealing with the limited amount of dust when you tilt the saw. One possible solution I though of would be to use a heavy grade trash bag and cut out enough plastic to go around the motor mount on the right side leaving enough plastic to be flexible when the motor tilts. Secure the trash bag plastic with duct tape. Keep the rigid board on the left for the belt to have space. I might try this with mine as I have been watching vids like this to get enough information to build my own solution.

@@RedcarWW Interesting idea. I don't have any dust collection on mine. Don't use it very much and don't have much space. Some day.

As soon as you raise the blade, that belt is hitting that mdf.... but you already found that out.

Check out Scotts Garage KZbin channel. He has two videos on the best contractor saw dust collection system I've seen. It works with tilt and it get almost all the dust.

It's a pretty good idea too, cheap and durable and it keeps the blade cool 🤣

that belt looks way longer than it should be.
@GlennFrazeeYT Жыл бұрын
Nope, fits the saw just right
@creepyloner1979 Жыл бұрын
@@GlennFrazeeYT i'm sure it "fits", but you're reducing the belt drive's ability to absorb shock and vibration and adding extra strain/wear on the belt and bearings by having the motor that far out and that low relative to the motor mount's hinge point.
@GlennFrazeeYT Жыл бұрын
I don't know for sure because I'm not the original owner, but I'm fairly sure the motor mount is all stock. Comparing mine to others online, they all look similar.

If the video is so boring you have to speed it up, why not just play it at normal speed, show a short bit of what you're doing, then go to the next step. Taping up all the ducting could take 5 or 6 seconds at normal speed, then a couple seconds of drilling while you use the same exact narration. This video is informative but watching tape being applied at high speed for over a minute is boring and stressful, anxious to see what's next. This could be a very watchable 4 minute DIY demonstration.

@@GlennFrazeeYT I have a newer version of the same saw, so I do like seeing what other people are doing. I thought the sped-up sounds were funny also.
