I love Honey Gouramis, I have one male and would like to add some more- may I ask if you still have all 3 of yours and do they get along well together, and also are they male/female? Your tank is very nice 👍
@GrowingInterest2 жыл бұрын
I thought I had one male and two female but wasn so sure later. They past away sadly, pointy scales and so on, I later found out the whole population of the privat breeder where sick, I bought sick fish :(

Don’t know about anyone else but I’ve struggled to find honey gourami’s that bright yellow, my female is just silver and my male is more of a golden/brown honey yellow than bright yellow
@GrowingInterest5 жыл бұрын
the wild type gourami is grey/brown, the golden/yellow honey gouramis got that color through selective breeding. I got them from a fellow hobbyist. The males get more red with breeding behavior. I wouldn't mind the wild type, they are cool as well :)
@KimbiW5 жыл бұрын
the dwarf gouramis always seem like they are skittish and a little spazzy. My powder blue is easily scared, and an emotional little dude. But I've got him to nibble on my fingers now, looking for food, instead of hiding behind the filter. Still does weird stuff, but seems like he trusts me a lot more now. Helps I feed him in his own corner, since he's too slow to compete against the neon tetras for food hahaha
@GrowingInterest5 жыл бұрын
ok seems i'm not the only one :) they are a lot more outgoing and do not hide anymore at feeding time.

Honey Gouramis are a good choice for this tank's lay-out because of all the hiding places the plants provide.I might consider them as an alternative fish for my 30 gallon.Right now I still cannot put small fish in the 30 gallon because I am using it as a grow-out tank for a young Oscar Cichlid that will be moving into a 150 gallon that I am saving up for. Any possibilities of adding some dither fish in that tank to encourage the gouramis to come out more often?
@GrowingInterest5 жыл бұрын
Yes they are great :) dither fish are in consideration, that would help them. When the plants are completely growing in it's also better :)
@Ezihkhel5 жыл бұрын
@@GrowingInterest And I have read that they are healthier and live longer than their dwarf gourami relatives which makes them even more ideal.Not sure if Zebra Danios are found in the same area as Honey Gouramis in the wild but they'd make good dither fish.They're always my go-to fish species whenever setting up an Indian themed tank.I kept them with Dwarf Gouramis and Zebra Loaches before when my other 30 gallon was still running.
@GrowingInterest5 жыл бұрын
@@Ezihkhel yes danios would be great but they jump occasionally, without a lid it's sadly a no :( yes the dwarf gouramis from aqua farms have often a virus which just kills them in a year, I read that as well. Usually local breed fish don't die randomly like aqua farm fish because they are raised without antibiotics.

Sorry if this is in another one of your videos, but what is the temp range, pH and dGH of your gorgeous tank?
@GrowingInterest3 жыл бұрын
thank you :) temperatur was around 26-28 celsius and it had soft water. I dismantled the tank a while ago so no I can't test anymore

It's more 22-28 °Celsius for honey gouramis, how can I help you hardscape? (My hardscape is not from India)
@jackoghost5 жыл бұрын
i think you have 3 female gouramies, the males have more deep orange at the tail, at least mine had

That is possible, it's better than 3 males :D but they are still very small

I got them from a fellow hobbyist, not that common yes

I was going to say the same thing. Never seem a snail like that. Im doing my research for a tank where it will mainly be about the snails with one or two fish for a little movement.
@UnremarkableSteve4 жыл бұрын
Beautiful video, and tank. In my opinion, you have 3 male Honey Gourami (They should still get along quite well). The females are MUCH more pale, nearly silver. My guess is that the person you got them from believed they were females due to the faded horizontal line on 2 of their sides. This is something males (especially when younger) will exhibit when feeling particularly submissive and not wanting to "rock the boat" too much, or seem like they are challenging any other males. The females never color up that nicely in my experience, however the biggest indicator to me is the fin shape of all three of them. Females have a more rounded shape to the back of their top and bottom fins. I'd happily share a photo of one of the male and females I have, if you're interested.

Yes I've seen such gourami's it depends on the breeding line, some are all yellow some reddish. All gouramis of that breeder where completely yellow :D it was hard to tell

@GrowingInterest4 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) Samurai Gourami (Sphaerichthys vaillanti) are beautiful but rare to find as an aquarium fish, plus they are endemic to the Kalimantan River in Borneo, so nit in India. But I will keep an eye out, amazing gourami you showed me :)
