Its pretty normal, especially with older birds, it takes a while before they get used to it, I would definitely start with apple slices because they seem to be afraid of dark colored fruit. Sprinkling seeds on them helps too.

Hey kiddo, you also should make a video about things you shouldn't give to budgies. The reason?, I been noticed in the comment section that people make terrible mistakes with their budgies. Some of them admitted their fault but not the majority. Keep strong, kiddo and hi to Denny, Jenny and Benji.

Good tips and tricks. Dandelions grow everywhere: except in the dead of Winter! LOL! Note that studies have shown that we don't really know WHAT to feed our pet parrots. Studies from different countries have shown great disparity in their results. Budgies in the outbacks of Australia don't have that many choices with fruits and veggies, and they certainly are not eating apple and broccoli! That's not to say we shouldn't be feeding them those items, just that we're pretty well in the dark about which diets are best.

I litterly just got a bird that already ate a few fruits and veggies. I got lucky that he was a brave bird and had no problem trying anything u placed on his food bowl and the others kind of followed. Now they eat just about any fruit and veggie I offer them and I've also introduced alot of grains into there diet aswell. and just recently I started feeding them bird chop where I combine everything they need into one. but then again I think I was very lucky, and the only reason why I did such an impulsive move was because I felt my birds were lacking alot of nutrition with all seed diet and overall at a risk of death. Ik this may not be a big issue for budgies but i have larger birds that really needed veggies ASAP. (this isnt saying budgies are less important just saying they might be able to live longer then most birds on an all seed diet)

You have the cutest videos of KZbin! I miss having budgies, I had them for years with cockatiels - my last cockatiel passed away last year one month before completing 20 years with me, and I didn't even know his true age. Keep the good work with your birdies, they are adorable and you take such an excellent care of them. Something all my birds loved like crazy was corn on the cob, specially when the grains are moist and not very ripe yet. My birds never liked much of fruits, but green leaves and green (unripe) corn were a success with them.

My budgies are young but tend to refuse fruits. They want only seeds. Single vegetable who they eat is lettuce but in this period I can't find it. I wish they will want to eat apples soon...

Try taking the seeds out of the cage in the morning and only offer thin apple slices with seeds on them. Start with apple because they tend to be afraid of darker fruits.
