Greetings MD. I bred Kribensis for years. They are the easiest cichlid to breed in my experience. Even easier than guppies. Fun fact. The females show more colour than the male. I had to separate my pair because they were breeding way to often. Enjoy them and get ready for hundreds of fry.

Try sticking a heater in with the apistos and rams (around 28 Celsius for the rams) - they’ll be much more happy. They’ll also be more interested in breeding. Great video!

Use a turky baster to suck the babies out once the cribs bring them out for a swim. Once if the babies survive in that tank it will nearly be impossible to catch then when they are ready to moved on to a new home. Put the fry in a tank when the plants are in pot and all the decorations can be removed easily.
Just as I think I have a favorite tank, you build another! However, my favorite fish are the Kribs. I have a pair myself! Spectacular looking little fish!!

Kribs are insanely easy to breed once paired, we had a tank way before aquascaping was a thing (maybe late 90s) that we put a tea mug in. They moved in almost instantly and had hundreds of babies. Unfortunately they get super agressive so it can be stressful but very interesting to watch them protect the brood.

So beautiful! I wonder if putting a bit of peat moss in the filter might kickstart breading. I know when I added a tiny bit to my betta tanks, they both started making bubble nests the next day. Be careful kribs are one of the most aggressive dwarf cichlids out there. I’ve heard of stories of people saying that even large aggressive fish such as Jaguar and jack Dempsey cichlids have been pushed away from a breeding pair of kribs.

I've been having such bad luck with kribensis lately. The females are always great but the males seem to always die within a couple of weeks. Water parameters are all good. Just added a male again today to see if he's OK as I got him from somewhere else.

I have kept about 35 kribs (same as yours) in my 180 gallon tank (it was from one spawn so they are all siblings) and they have been doing great. They are like 5-6 years old now so they are dying one after one from old age, but some of them are still trying to breed. I have been breeding different cichlids for a long time but I think these are pretty peaceful for a cichlid. Super easy to breed. With fry they are crazy, but most cichlids are with fry. I am bored of them now after so many years so I can’t wait to do something different with the tank after they all pass away.
