I have tried and tried and tried, and cannot get this to work. I have made sure I have followed your steps perfectly, but when I go to open the i3d file in giants editor it just crashes. The editor log has the following errors: Error: GDM file has wrong number of channels (10 should be 12) Error: DensityMap failed to load GDM file. Error: Can’t load resource ‘C:/Users/admin/OneDrive/documents/My Games/FarmingSimulator2022/mods/FS22_AustralianFarms/maps/data/densityMap_ground.png’ Error: Failed to load terrain detail layer ‘terrain detail’. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at the end of my fuse with this. Cheers.

I have a question about this; if I add MTA to a map that I am currently playing on, will it need a new savegame for it to work ? EDIT: I thought it was working but it wasn't, I followed the tutorial to the letter and did several attempts, I did get the terrain angles, but the fields were scewed, looking at the map at what fields needed plowing the map has drawn 4 square fields which "needs plowing"..however those fields does not exist on the map and ploughing actuall fields doesn't register as ploughed although they most certainly are. Something must be off in this tutorial or the video at this time, maybe Giants changed something. This was done on a freshly created Erlengrat map.

Hi there... definitely. Heres what to do. In old game, harvest and store/sell all your crops then start a new save game, making note of your new and old savegame slot/position. Save the game. Now in the fs22 directory. Copy all the.xml files from the old save to the new save. 😊 If you cant see the file extensions click on the show icon in the menu bar and select extensions. Then just start your new game and everything you had should be in there. (Except terrain changes) Thise cannot be recovered.

If your having trouble converting gdm file,make sure your converter is on the same drive as your map, or copy and paste gdm file from your map into the converter folder, convert it and paste the png file back to your map. Also make sure u dont have the map zipped up on the same drive as the map you are working on, or the editor will pull the gdm file from the zip for some strange reason. The editor has a log file in your user/appdata folder but youll need to view systems files to get to it.

@@stomy4645 yes, with th3 latest update of the game, as i said in the video, the need for a custom terrain shader is not needed anymore, so it is best to use the ingame shader as this will be updated with the game.

Hi, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've followed the steps fully. Inside the Giants Editor and in the dev controls whilst inside the game it shows I have all the new angles. But when I mow/harvest anything it's still using the old set of angles. Please can you help? Thanks

I have tried this 6 times with a map and I cant get map i3d to load again in GE afterwards. GE wont load but works with other mods and the map before changes. Do the infolayer files need converted to PNGs too? The read me doesnt have that but the infolayer files in the map I am working on are GRLE files not PNG like your example shows.

I have done this probably a thousand times by now. It works perfect every time. Just follow the video watch pause do, very important not to confuse the terraindetail layer with terrainhight layer, if you change the hight layer your map will not ooen again. No the info layers not need changing only the densitymapground.gdm. Do everything i do on the video even if it looks unimportant. Every step is crucial, even the last step to renamr back to gdm

Great video. Well done. I have a question, in your downloadable text file, you have a different item 6 to that in your video? Does this need to be done? as I can't find a terrainsahder.xml file in my map? 6. Edit terrainShader.xml and on line 445 adjust the number of angles float angle = float(i_angle)/32*3.14159;

Indicates a problem with your .png or you have the original still in the map, or you didn't rename the gdm line in the map.i3d..

@@jhoss8524 well there are so many variables in this stuff.. verify the following is correct from my text file on the steps to follow: Before making any changes, please back up your entire Map. 1. Convert densityMap_ground.gdm to PNG with GRLE converter, delete original from map folder. 2. Copy $&data/maps/mapUS/fieldGround.xml to map folder 3. Edit i3D with text editor 4.1. Change densityMap_ground.gdm to .png 4.2 adjust the numbers for the channels under the "terrainDetail" DetailLayer. Adding 2 here gives 32 angles. 4.3 Under Group "GroundAngle" add the number of channels and the angles. These must be calculated for the number of angles. Here 180/32=5,625 4.4 Correct the start channel under group "SprayType". 5. Edit fieldGround.xml, contains the information from the i3D in addition to the standard information 6. Adjust the path to fieldGround.xml in map.xml 7. Load the map in the Giants Editor, check the log for errors and save again. Then you have a new densityMap_ground.gdm and the PNG can be deleted. change densityMap_ground.png to .gdm

yes correct, the highttypes, is set for your fruit, in this tutorial we work with the terrain, not the terrainhighttypes, i think i showed both here in the video, so if you were to add more fruit channels you would watch my video on adding 64 fruits to your map. but for MTA we need to work only with the terrain layer and the densitymapground.

Awesome tutorial, thank you. Im new to modding, I was wondering when I plow for example and I go around in a circle how is that set up so the rows follow the direction of the tractor? Just curious really

Yes, exactly, thus is what multi terrain angles guve you. This however is not for foliage, so all your fruit will still grow in a set pattern. To have the crops plant in rows is a mod called rowcrop. This requires modification to equipment as well as the map. It limits your equipment though.

If it crashes, you have an typo in either the map.xml or the i3d .. does the map open in the editor, check console for errors?
