Adding Space (Measures) to the Song Start in REAPER

I just discovered another, very simple method: Create a selection of the length of what you want to add in the measures at the top of the window, right click, and select "Insert empty space in selection" .

I did the same thing, but the ReaPitch doesn't move with everything else. I played the whole song to make sure everything moved correctly, and I kept getting weird vocal pitches in random spots. I normally pitch correct with Melodyne as a standalone, but there are a couple of places that I used ReaTune, because it gave me a unique little voice curl up. I'm going to try this & see if it works. I have to add a little bit of music to the beginning of my song.

Nope, I did what Kenny told me to do & the ReaTune still stays stationary. I'm going to see if I can open ReaPitch on the vocal track & see if I can use this to move ReaTune after I move the rest of the song.

If anyone is having trouble with inserted time being in the wrong BPM, the inserted space will take the BPM of the Project Settings. If you want the inserted space to match the adjacent measures, you may need to change the project BPM before inserting.

How do you nudge a whole section of your song to the right? I want to duplicate a section of my song to extend it but this method adds empty space but deletes my selection I want to copy at the same time?

Hi Kenny & All - My version is 6.21 (up to date) and I've just found that the option to "Nudge Items" no longer exists under the "VIEW" tab in Reaper. I needed to add quite a bit of space at the start of my project. I hit ACTIONS, then TIME SELECTION: INSERT EMPTY SPACE AT TIME SELECTION (Moving Later items). I highlighted the cursor at the start ( as you demonstrated ) - inserted first 1 bar, then 3 or 4 bars, then a section of 8 ( for example ). "Nudge Items" now exists only under Actions - as far as I can see. As "Oly Spart" and "Kiko C." detail below. Thanks for all your Helpful videos. Kenny !!

Hi Kenny. I need help for something about measures. I want to make 1sec empty space before the tracks. But it has to be synchronized with metronome. Because i use the metronome before recording (for countdown). Im moving all my tracks 1 beat right for empty space for beginning of the project. But in this case, when i enable "metronome before recording" it starting hit 1count miss because tracks moved 1 sec right. I need to set starting measure and metronome with 1 sec empty.. Sorry for my bad English. Pls help. Thx

So our tracks have started at the zero spot, so how do you add space when you can't highlight any empty bars at the beginning? Do you know how to add an extra beat to 1 bar/measure? I have a bridge in a weird time signature, but the chorus is in 4/4. Going into the chorus from the bridge, I would like the last bar/measure of the bridge to be an extra beat longer. I can't find out how to map it out properly so the grid is correct to my song. Any ideas?

I encountered a weird behavior after inserting empty space to the song start: Reaper plays sound in the empty region. The sound varies depending on where I last stopped playback in the song. Do you know where this behaviour could come from?

Kenny- No matter what I do to add time to the beginning of the song, the ReaTune stays where it is & ends up in the wrong areas of the song! I can't move the ReaTune. I just tried. Maybe there's a way to move it the same amount as the rest of the song?

Problem solved, with a little bit of work. I made screen shots of the ReaTune lines. Then I added one bar of space to the beginning of the song. Then I opened the ReaTune FX in my project & moved the lines over. Then I did it again, adding another bar to the beginning of the song. Then opened ReaTune from my vocal effects again & moved the lines again. I compared the screen shots to the actual project, and placed them EXACTLY where they were before. One of my ReaTune lines is a short horizontal line, and the other is a short diagonal line. Both had to be very precise over one little syllable. LOL! I don't mind the extra work, as long as I was able to accomplish what needed to be done.
