@@conaticus its a theme in all of your videos. i click on your new uploads anyway thinking one will be good but each one is the same: a bunch of 5 second clips of you saying random shit about code, snippets, or functions you wrote that WE as viewers DIDN'T ever see. there's no context. just please make your videos more structured and less all over the place. i hear you say "so after that" or "so next i did this" this is great! but everybody's FUCKING LOST! YOUR VIDEOS HAVE NO STRUCTURE! (even in this comment section already, i mean hell man this videos less than a day old and i see 3 or 4 "i have no clue whats going on" "you make me feel stupid") show less code, more explaining, maybe make an outline for each video before you upload it (that's what scripts are for! here's a recommendation: make a script before each video, and read it to one of your non coding friends before uploading and see if they can understand and follow along.) yeah anyway i'm unsubscribing. i love rust and i love what you're trying to do, but please fix your shit, brother.

there are a few things you could do to improve speed from what I could see. Probably the biggest one would be to store your dependency graph in a single file (to reduce file IO) as you seem to be resolving those using a recursive file structure. In fact, you could probably put all the lock file info in a database, which would allow you to query "which package is the latest?" rather than "is this package the latest?".

If the cache classified a certain package as the latest version and then the package got a newer version, wouldn't the boolean prevent you from getting this newest version?
