Thank you very much for this tutorial, I was getting crazy trying to do it by myself. Is there a way to stop the pawn from advancing, when hitting an object with collision enabled? Do I need to add a rigid body or something?

Thank you. Been looking for something like this for ages. Do you know how to add rotation? So you can look left and right with the right thumb stick?

I know this is a month old but I did figure out how to do it. First in your pawn BP if you click the top of the component list on your actual pawn, this will open the menu on the right, there is a tick box for "Use controller Rotation Yaw" under the Pawn drop down. Set up your input to use x axis on right thumb stick In the Pawn BP add your newly made input the drag out to "Add controller yaw input" I plugged axis value into the bottom and the target I typed "Ge pawn owner" and it worked I probably didn't need to so all those other steps but it works so I'm happy

Got the same problem....if you use the FPS Template and play in VR it works with collision detection but i had issues getting the hands in this one....If i find something i post a link but at this moment iam stucked

what if you created a collision box in the character model and when it overlaps with certain objects, your movement is set to 0, but only if you are walking towards that object?

Great tutorial. Thanks for that Russel. Was looking for this functionality and it's actually quite easy and logical. Any suggestions to make it work with the ability to walk stairs etc?

as soon as i use the grab button to grab and move at the same time, my character just flys backwards

Hey mate I just want to say thanks for this tutorial it worked a treat!! I added the z-movement to the right thumbstick for up and down also. Do you have any idea on how to keep the VR pawn to move only within the nav mesh bounds - similar to the teleport method? Perhaps adding nav modifiers to stop the movement could be the alternative to collisions?

This was excruciatingly slow BUT: He is the first person ever (eva!) to go into the Input Panel first, has you make/rename two inputs then go into a Blueprint and says: 'now lets insert those inputs' AND I'm LIKE: "OOOOOOOOOOOH! THAT'S WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN BLUEPRINTS! That is huge. I feel like, a paradigm shift in my understanding, an Epiphany. I have worked in 3ds Max since i was 3D Studio release 1 for DOS so I know a lot about development, but Unreal I've only been about a year in,. Regardless it is definately happening! Everytime I find a new huge technique I put the web page (copy) or video (download) it in a 'Technique Reminders' folder... BUT Not stuff like this, This is fundamental and I can't forget 'THAT'S HOW AND WHRRE YOU MAKE INPUTS< (I always known about the input panel, but not that it was a 'creative' panel,. I just though it was like,. an indirect reactive slave to Blueprints and I never really got that you name and call them (inputs and Axis' etc) there, then define what they DO in a Blueprint! YAY!! Can I hook a ,,, Morph target to a motion controller and use that to record 'character performance? Use Trigger to Blink? Use controller AXIS to tilt head? Point head (at controller) so you can animate a head and eyes following your hand?

the comment below also provides a cleaner way of using the same turn angle by just multiplying your rotation amount with a float integer. :)
