The writers could have easily turned Addison into the "bitch" of the show but instead made her to be warm, compassionate, and understanding. She's my favorite charactar on Grey's.

In the first season I must admit that I didn't care much about Derek. He had no real depth and didn't seem to serve any actual purpose other than warming Meredith's bed at night. I know that Meredith and Derek were seen as this once in a lifetime epic true love but I never saw it that way. When Addison showed up my opinion of Derek completely changed; she instantly made him a more dynamic and complex character. I know a lot of people were set on Derek and Meredith but Addison and Derek or "Addek" as they are called by their fans developed a rather large following considering that there wasn't a whole of time they were together on the show and rooting for Addison and Derek wasn't something I think the writers were going for but happened anyway.
