We are working on a research entitled "Efficacy pf Bamboo Fibers as a sustainable Bio admixture on Concrete Hollow Blocks", but then we've been discourage to continue it because of several problems: (1) We didn't know how to extract fiibers from a bamboo. We've been searching for a machine for easy fiberizing but all we see is manually cutting bamboo using a bolo knife, which makes the work really hard. Then, if we chose to do it manually (2) we need a lot of force, effort and person in extraction of bamboo fiber, which will contribute to labor and cost a lot of money. (3) bamboo is highly sustainable due to its renewability but then here in the Philippines, specifically Cavite Province, you still need to purchase bamboo though it's not pricy. Lastly, in our study, our objective is to produce a good performance hollow block but highly affordable, but then since the processing of bamboo especially the fiber itself, will cost a lot of money and effort, so definitely our product will also increase it's price. We're really hopeless right now. Honestly, we want to continue this study because we want to further explore the other uses of bamboo but those challenges are giving us headache. hey, It's important that the burning of cement is reduced so this seems interesting. Bamboo most likely contains a lot of silicon so I wonder if the ash would also not be useful to make concrete.

Raymart Tumampil we had mixed 1,3,5% of Bamboo fibres with respect to cement by weight.

First of all you have to take mould size and calculate quantity of material that has been required for making concrete(cement , fine & coarse aggregate) in the mould.. for example if you use m20 concrete and your need test for different periods of 7, 14, 21 & 28days with each of 3 samples per periods then you have to make 4periods × 3moulds per test = 12moulds for testing. (here 12moulds were casted with 1% fiber addition with respect to cement weight) simultaneously for 3% and 5% fibers, you have to make different moulds for testing so totally it takes 36 moulds for 1% 2% 3% of fibers
