Okay hear me out. Instead of getting rid of the polymer slices, keep them and make them like cute little dangly chain accessories for the handles of the tubes lids or something. So that way you can put actual pigment in your lip gloss and keep the cute little polymers.

I have a similar business and many competitors use this kind of little decorations that serve no purpose other than looking good, but I really don't like generating trash that takes up space and doesn't add to the quality of the product. Also, I stopped using food coloring, because they can contain sugar or other ingredients that cause mold or make the product go bad quicker. I would prefer to design stickers for the packaging or using biodegradable materials, but if you also have to lower the quality of the product for a decoration to look better, you are just a content creator, not a business owner that worries about product quality.

The product quality matters more than the appearance of the product itself. There are plenty of ways the appeal with the outer packaging that don’t include the product inside. Also, please make sure your polymer is baked baked and set if the packaging is plastic anywhere. Any not set polymer clay can and will melt other plastic when they touch long enough. So even though it may say baked, bake it again for a little bit so it’s completely set 👍

Food coloring is not evaluated in labs for using it as cosmetic colouring 💀 I also make my own makeup and honey thats a big nope, there's a lot of cosmetic grade pigments to use ffs

Glad you addressed that because I tried it with the pigment and was like wtf. Even pressing the slices was barely showing. Food coloring definitely worked better for me.

@@hollyc4765she’s also ignoring the HUNDREDS of comments from people telling her that the polymer bits are toxic and are not meant to be put into lip gloss or any cosmetics or used in any way that will cause you to ingest them 😑 A quick google search would confirm these comments. And she’s a shitty creator because she’s not researching the things that she is putting into their products. It’s a case of monkey see > monkey do…. “Oh that person is doing it so I can/need to do it!” Without every looking into the ingredients to make sure they’re good for your customers.

I think people are getting confused... if you want glittery lip gloss you choose food coloring to tint bc it doesn't hide the glitter effect, if you want strong colored lip gloss you choose pigment but it doesn't work well with glitter bc the pigment blocks the light reflection on the glitter.

Okay i understand your reasoning. But are there concerns about the food coloring eventually going bad and therefore rotting? I would imagine that the color pollimers would have a much longer shelf life. And i would prefer color over charms. The charms do use space that could be used by lipgloss instead. Sure it may not be much, but either way I would much rather not have foreign objects in my gloss.

Food coloring doesn’t really go bad and it certainly doesn’t rot. It’s literally just pigment, preservatives and either oil or water if you have the liquid kind

Why would you choose the food coloring which you admitted leaves less pigment on your lips just because it looks better in the bottle? Personally I'm not a fan of the look of polymer clay slices in glosses, but the lipgloss is what people are buying, they want their lips to look good!

Her and many other small makeup businesses sadly. So many are very unsafe for their own various reasons...be it they put unsafe stuff in the products, they don't do proper sanitation and cleaning of their machines and such (this is VERY common and a MASSIVE concern) + they do it in the own kitchens sometimes where its not going to be a proper sanitized work station, copyright and trademark infringement (anywhere from anime characters/brands, Disney, Sanrio, ect), and more. It's honestly really concerning and it bothers me when I see so many people defending it and the owners sometimes ignoring the concerns or downright blasting people even Very few of these small brands would I ever recommend to anyone due to my concerns with various practices, let alone the attitudes of some of the owners or willful ignoring of legitimate concerns.

Make both and some without the decor in them and then ppl have options. If they want something with more color or not and if they want decor in them or not. See what sells best and go with that. How does this make sense lol wouldn’t you want your glosses to have a little more pigment. Who cares if the charms show. All those clear glosses with the food coloring are basically going to look the same on your lips. Just say it’s more work to get actual pigments instead of basic food coloring. Honestly food coloring isn’t a bad thing nor does it make a lip gloss bad or not high quality & sweetheart it’s your brand and you do you 💋Now with that being said I did love the one with the pigment bc it was a gorgeous color…so my question is 🙋🏻‍♀️ Could you make a lip gloss with the pigment maybe even on a request only basis that you wouldn’t add the cute little Winnie the Pooh slices too!? Yeah that seems to be the case, I was looking for another comment saying this because I work with polymer clay and it's made very clear it's never food safe so surely not safe to be submerged in liquid and then consumed via cosmetics 😅 I hope they change their charms to a non porous plastic!
