As someone who has only attended a Calvary Chapel a few times, and who would like to learn about the rift taking place, I was hoping to find "straight talk" here but was disappointed. This is the third video I've watched by Calvary Chapel Pastors and all of them have talked in extremely vague terms, speaking of "rumours" and "misinformation" and "truth" but otherwise beating around the bush and avoiding mentioning what the issues at play are.

@@RichardDCook Brian, when he took over ( not pastor chucks choice) went about destroying any association with pastor Chuck - from re designing the church property to bring Christmas trees in mass to the church, something pastor Chuck had been opposed to he also caused a split amongst the Calvary Chapel association because he felt the old method of expository Bible teaching through the Bible in its entirety was passé . Also he decided to no longer focus on the end times as once again Chuck was big on it. Brian felt the church membership was aging out and he wanted to appeal to younger families . He and his wife are dead set on their son taking over- Cheryl thinks it’s prophecy fulfillment. 🙄He is extremely progressive , anti anything opposing lgbtq ( it’s unloving and our fault our reputation as believers is so bad according to him) . He doesn’t mention prolife , politics , and anything such thing because it’s “ divisive “, he is anti Israel because they are not the Israel of biblical times according to him. He is arrogant as a whole .

You did not fail, it was the failure of Chuck himself, as God clearly teaches order, which Chuck knew, in addition to God's teachings on contracts throughout scripture. No one can convince me that Chuck did not know this, but I noticed that Chucks last 5 years, his teaching was going off, which others also mentioned, to which I stated, that it is not Chuck, it is the disease which is affecting him. As one in the health and wellness and natural cancer protocol industry for 30 years, this happens. But God can give us discernment if we are looking for answers instead of believing that the overwhelming allopathic community are like god's. I did hear the messages of what Paul shared, and watched how others reacted or who they connected with afterwards. Definitely by Brian continuing to partake in with RICK WARREN and his kind, it was inevitable to what happened, and this happened before the passing of Chuck. So, what I seen, is Chuck waited too long to create the contract need for the continuation of what God started through him. But BRIAN did not wait, for he already had the ink dried BEFORE Chuck passed, and strong armed it when he passed. What Chuck failed to see, but others did, just like King David, about his son who betrayed him. As it is hard to see the betrayal among our own, yet others see it, warn us, but we hope it is not so. Does not scripture teach us about betrayal among the ranks, maybe a message should be done yearly to the congregation about this, much like they do on tithing. But clearly God teaches on contracts, and has shown us about protectionism. But I see the churches ignorant in these things, as if they were doing these things, then many would not be losing their cars, homes, and the freedom that was theirs , that many died for, but again in scripture it states, my people perish for the lack of knowledge. As what has happened in Calvary needs to be told, as because of it's history, people getting saved now, are going into these Calvary Chapels, that are no longer following the blueprint or foundations that God gave Chuck. As I get calls from people that share a friend of theirs now attends a Calvary, who they have been praying for, due to me sharing about Calvary for decades, to which I sadly now have to share with them about , NOT ALL CALVARIES ARE THE SAME IN BELIEFS NOW. Thankfully the work God began through Chuck has continued through others, but, this has been going on since the time the YESOUS walked among man. Keep up the good work Jacob.

We are living in the last days…… The Father knows when He is sending His Son…….. Pastor Chuck had always taught us through the word of God, “without a vision the people will perish.” We need to pray more than ever for not just the world but for all the churches that teach the Word of God. Pastor Chuck is in Heaven rejoicing. What I remember about Chuck was his beautiful smile and twinkling eyes. He would want us to pray more than ever as we are living in the last days. I watched Raul give an alter call in 1996 at CCCM on a Monday night. He started the message with an invitation to come forward and accept the Lord. There was no message yet, he just wanted to illustrate that it was the Holy Spirit doing the work, it wasn't a man at the pulpit but only God. This example had a huge impact on me and was a good example of the Trinity and how it works. God bless!

I grew up in the 1st era of Calvary Chapel and went to CCCM from my earliest years. I am sorry but I have such resentment about what Brian has done to my home church. His liberal views feels like satan has invaded our small community here. I live across the street. Hardly anyone goes there anymore. I drive by it all the time and it's just so sad. If it weren't for the high school it would be empty. Now that Brian is passing it down to his mini me I feel like it is a lost cause. I am sorry for my blunt speech. That was my church. I now have church online (Jack Hibbs CC Chino Hills). Thank God for the 1st generation of Calvary Chapel pastors.

Yes. It’s so difficult to find a good Bible teaching church. We tried another cc church but the pastor was so angry and flushed red , also obese I couldn’t attend without thing he was going to burst on stage. He hated Calvinists and blamed them for not coming to his rapture conference. We visited another and the pastor dressed up like Noah and gave a sermon as if he was Noah- for the adults! I’ve pretty much given up .

At that time I was hoping Brian wouldn't take over the ministry. It seems though Brian and Greg Laurie has brought the emergent or the modern Church movement into Calvary chapel.

I appreciate Calvary Chapel and Chuck Smith though I attend a different fellowship and have for over 30 years. There are times when sons have taken over for their fathers in my fellowship of churches but thankfully the sons have continued on in the same vision and teaching that was passed on to them from their fathers. They continued in the “distinctives” so to speak as they were also their convictions. Nepotism doesn’t have to be bad. Even God chose his Son, so let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I love you guys. I was there and got saved at Jeff Johnson's CC in 79 and attended Rauls CC before they moved to Diamond Bar. Great foundation bulit in those days. I was also later involved with CC Worship Confrences and around Chuck Smith a few times. He beamed Jesus till the day he went home to be with Him. Yes, Chuck was a man who made his share of mistakes but he indeed was gracious and humble and Loved Jesus and His Word with his whole heart. You speak the truth about Chuck. May God bring another revival of His Word led by the Holy Spirit where we will see repentance and real salvation in these last days we are living in.

First of all, in a church the size of CCCM , there should be "Plural Eldership". 6 Pastor/Elders would be a minimum in a church body that size. None of those Elders should have an additional title like "Senior Pastor or Associate Pastor ! They are all sinners saved by Grace and "Called " by God . With many Pastors, all with unique person hood, reasonable discussions about every matter will be worked out and presented to the congregation that they may understand. I talked to several people that go to a different local body ( church) and was surprised that they only had 1 pastor ! That is very dangerous for many reasons !

I have never felt right about Brian Broderson I don’t believe for one minute that Chuck wanted the church to go to Brian! I saw a video from Chuck Smith’s brother right after Chuck died and his brother said that Chuck did not want the church to go to Brian and said that Brian stole it and was manipulative regarding it. So I have heard from Chucks brother and his granddaughter say the same thing regarding Brian….no thanks when I attempted to watch Brian my discernment was going off! Warning bells!!

Multiple church splits - the proof is in the putting. Proves that there was a problem well before the leader passes. If there was a board and assistants that crossed him and they were put there by him, then what does that say about the decision by the leader to put them there? What this proves is that there's a problem with what everyone thinks is the solution. Similar to why something like Calvinism can last for so long, people don't consider that Calvinism is the problem as they think it's the solution.

A broken clock is right twice a day, thus you can say some things that are true surrounding an inaccurate assessment, but it doesn't make the underline true. You can even have people endorse it and they can be wrong. But Calvinism is only one example of how Christianity is consistently inaccurate on almost every issue.

I have been to many good churches and have been at a calvary chapel for the past 15 years. I love pastor Bob's teaching and it falls in line with Chuck's philosophy. Pastor Chuck had a long term plan. Calvary chapel has never been about one man. It was and continues to be a way of teaching the Bible; the whole Bible verse by verse. Pastor Brian has his own philosophy that differs (different doesn't necessarily mean wrong) than Chuck's. He very easily could have started his own church and called it something different.

As Evangelical protestants fracture and fracture again into subgroups it makes the point for the doubters and critics. It's all because of the tolerance and compromise within the Calvary Chapel movement. I agree with the previous comments. I have know and been with Calvary chapel for almost 30 years . Started attending in 1990 and have known most of the pastors included Raul. I remember how he use to be, solid in the word and wouldn’t sway outside of doctrine. I hear him now and man he has become a different person. This post shows no evidence to prove that what was said was untrue. All he did was called it a lie in many different forms but could not defend his position with facts.

I came to a strong faith in Christ via Chuck Smith and his ministry in the mid 90s. I am so disgusted by the Weakness Shown by these pastor's. These great men of faith have given up their calling for wealth, prosperity and nepotism, making the family more important than teaching GODs word, Gen to Rev word by word. So many of these pastors have grown weak in their faith as they grew old in body. So disgusted! @@xenacrowell119 thanks for your thoughtful reply. Calvary Chapel is known by many as teaching the "full counsel" of scripture. Right? So, in the case of these differing dispensational views, the full range should be taught, and not just cherry-pick the one your favorite. I have a lot of respect for Chuck and sat under his teaching for many years, as well as several others, but all are flawed men, as am I. If there is an error then it is by the omission, in my opinion. Thankfully none of the views are crucial to salvation. The bible is a mystery in many ways and many views on topics we just don't know now. But by God's grace, we grow and learn. The other views. are quite common and taught in many churches and evangelical, and non-evangelical Christian denominations and churches. I encourage you, if you haven't already, to research them. It is quite fascinating. Bless you!

Pastor Chuck’s granddaughter spoke as a family representative, and she indicated that in her video; it is immaterial what her job may have been. I am saddened you would discount her words based on what you deem as a lowly station in life. Jesus was a lowly, poor carpenter while on this earth, and He sought out the most lowly of us. He still does, for which I am eternally grateful. You say BB needs our support? BB divided CC; what is there to support in that? BB is not of a higher station than Pastor Smith’s granddaughter because he is an ordained pastor, but he certainly is and will be held to a higher standard by God as such.
