Sad situation of affairs at Sassa services. Check one in Mitchell's Plain... Must be there at 4am to leave around 12pm... I have seen elderly and sick people standing outside gate in winter only to be told that they are only helping up to 50 people for the day... The rest must turn around and go home... A certain black Sassa staff member told a brown lady that she needs three ailments to apply for disability grant... Why must black people who struggle with Afrikaans help brown people in brown communities. Why must we struggle with language barrier...?

100% - its nonsense that all officials are Black in these offices, same as Home Affairs. Where is the representation of the people of that area?

A friend, 75 years old spent 6 hours at Bellville SASSA office. Stood outside for hours before getting indoors. Her card stopped working, so she had to go to the offices to find out why. After all that waiting, an officer asked for her ID and SASSA card, stayed away for some time and came back and told her that "fraud was committed on her account" and therefore her card was blocked, but that he has resolved it and her card will work again. That was in April and it is still not working. Technology is a challenge for her, so I have offered to assist her. What does she now need to do? Must she go stand for 6 hours again and hope the official actually does what he says he did? So frustrating as this is her only income.
