Bienvenido to Amber Cove! We are back on a private excursion with Iguana Mama Tours to see the beautiful city of Puerto Plata! We loved this action packed tour so much, we went back with the kids! We started with a visit up the mountain to the Teleferico Cable Car. Then we went to Ron Macorix Rum Distillery. This was followed by a quick visit to an old fort. We then had a FABULOUS lunch at Kaffe, a local restaurant. We then did a quick city walk and ended the day with cigars and dancing at Espigon Cigars.

I enjoy these types of tours, but when we do them on family cruises, we have to add in just a beach day in another port too. Our children are little and can handle a tour like this, but then, they’ll want the laid back beach too! We like a mix!

They drove us because the cable car wasn’t working. It’s been getting refurbished for while now. But they still take you to the bottom so you can see the journey. And then the views from the top. Plus more time for “gasolina” on the ride to the top 😂😂

I am from Dominican Republic and I will be going on a cruise to amber cove on January 22 God willing. Hi Addy and Terry. Amber Cove. Yessss🙌🏼. My husband is from Haiti. It’s nice that he explained the differences in the division of the island by language. Your guide is very informative. Was that fella in the rear pouring rum shots? 🤣. I appreciate your kids being crazy, wild and having fun. I know peeps whose kids ages 16-23 on a cruise or destination spend a lot of time staying in the room playing games. 🤦‍♀️. Drinks and merengue 💃🏼🕺. Love it. On vacation, I like to shop from the locals. Not the A/C tourist stores that the cruise lines hand out the free bags with flyers and coupons. Yesssss. The rum tour. 🍹🥃. Went on the bicardi tour in Puerto Rico and it was awesome. And it ended with making each person making 3 different full size drinks that we drank and was tore up. Fort then food. Bussin. Yesssss. $1 for the coconut 🥥 drink? Amazing. Cigars. Ok. Followed by more dancing. Love it. 💃🏼🕺. Yes. This day did look amazing. This wasn’t a ship excursion was it? This was private. Awesomeness. Great vlog!! Question, approximately how long did this tour take? Would there still be enough time to hang around the port area & zipline?

We met at around 9:45am and they dropped us off back at the port entrance at around 2-2:30pm. All aboard that day was 3:30pm. So we had about an hour-ish to walk around the port area. We didn’t go get in the pool but we had plenty of time to walk casually around to window shop and to take pictures at the Amber Cove sign. So maybe enough time to zip line? 😉

This was a private tour with Iguana Mama Tours (link in the description). I’m not sure but I think it is 18. Our youngest is 19 and they didn’t question his drinking because he was literally with his parents on the tour. 🤗🤗
