ADELAIDE | HAHNDORF AND MELBOURNE CUP (Germany in Australia?)

On this rainy morning we head through the hills to Australia's oldest surviving German settlement, the town of Hahndorf. Adelaide Hills Wine Bar, Hahndorf Leathersmith and Bush Gallery and The German Village Shops are just a few of the many stops we make as we explore the town. We eat an authentic German meal of pork knuckles with a liter of beer at the The German Arms Hotel. The following day is Melbourne Cup Day and we head to one of the family's favorite local pubs, The Grove, where we purchase a food and drinks package for the event. Cailey's brother puts a 10 dollar bet on the Melbourne Cup race and wins 100X his bet. Cailey also wins best fascinator and gets surprised with some gifts from the owner of The Grove.
