I would, as a videographer myself, make one suggestion. And that is to use a transition effect to provide a smooth segue from one scene to the next where the cuts are made in your video.

Hi Neil, thanks for your feedback. Initially, I was going to use transitions for one scene from another, but at the time I was using iMovie for this clip and others as there was a bug in the Premiere Pro CC 2017 that would cause constant crashes. iMovie is somewhat good but doesn’t give the flexibility to create meaningful transitions I was looking for in this video as opposed to Premiere Pro CC where you can use a variety of tools such as key framing to make transitions cleaner and smoother. Thus, I opted not to use transitions in this clip. I felt it was too intrusive on the presentation and didn’t get it to a direct point where I wanted it to be in the storyline as per say. I get entirely what you are saying but not every video needs transition effects to make the scene work. In this case, I only used transitions going into the drivers view and transitioning out when the trip was completed. However, having said that, there’s always room for improvement. I’m always open to constructive feedback, that’s how you grow and learn in my opinion. Stay healthy. Regards, Caleb

@@CalebsRailFilms You're using Apple Mac, then? I'm using Windows 11 with Cyberlink Power Director 20 Ultimate. This software comes packed with a wide variety of transition effects, including effects with alpha(transparent backgrounds which I put to good use at times. Power Director is usable with an Apple Mac platform. No, I'm *NOT* a Cyberlink salesman or anything like that, it's just that I've used Cyberlink Power Director versions 5, 7, 8, 14, 17 and now 20 and found it to be easy to use and easy to learn.

Yes, I’m on a Mac. Premiere Pro has been working perfectly since the 2020 version came out. So, I’ve been using it as I normally would. It was the only 2017... sorry 2018 version that was giving me grief. Sorry, I’m a little unwell at the moment, I was suppose to say the 2018 version was giving me grief. But now, anything is all kosher. I’ll have a lookie at the program your using soon. Thanks. Regards, Caleb

I think many people share the same thoughts as you do, Bill. It is kind of pointless to say the least having actually bet the tram myself by walking too! It's heavily used though during peak times as its free to travel within the city limits and out to the Entertainment Centre as well. Regards Caleb

Given the incredibly short distance between the new stops and the constant traffic lights I'd have thought it was much quicker to walk.
@CalebsRailFilms

It is actually faster on foot, lol 😂. When I was studying in town a few years ago, I actually bet the tram by walking from the City West stop to Gawler Place. However, it’s well patronised at most times. There were quite a few on the tram on that day I was filming. Obviously it’s a little different at the moment with the current situation in the world. It’s been handy when I’ve gone with my nan from North Terrace to the Botanic Gardens for a walk and photography though. It’s also been valuable getting to the hospital from my mum’s work in city as well for appointments.

Yeah, I thought that was the case. I think they were tourists to our great city and they probably didn't realise that its free within the city limits and out to the Entertainment Centre.

Yeah, mate, they're. We've had these trams since 2005. However, this extension from the Botanic Gardens to the corner of King William & North Terrace is a new extension. Only been open for the last three weeks or so. It was announced by the former Labor Government in 2017, ironically made in the lead up to the state election in March of this year at a cost of $90 million dollars. It was supposed to open in March of this year before the election on March 17. However, like with many projects concerning the Government it blew out of budget proportion, and the new Liberal elected Government needed to take on the task and was delayed until July because of problems with stations and tracks. Further delays were compounded when signalling issues arose during driver training and required the help of German engineers from the Bombardier company in Berlin, Germany who delivered the 100 series Flexity Trams in 2005/06. Thus, the new extension to the Botanic Gardens and the Festival Plaza was further delayed to October. The first trams departed the Entertainment Centre for the Botanic Gardens & the Festival Plaza on Saturday 13th of October 2018. Hope this helps? Cheers Caleb

Are trams in Australia electric?And what the future of trams in Australia.
@southaussiegarbo2054
@southaussiegarbo2054 3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are electric
@CalebsRailFilms
@CalebsRailFilms 3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Yes they are mostly. Although, in places like Newcastle in New South Wales, for instance, they are battery powered and when the battery is running low they collect some extra power from charging catenary points at stations. The pantograph goes up as it would normally on an electric tram and draws power from the charging point and then lowers and the tram then proceeds on its way. The new trams in Sydney, however, draw power from a ground contact system in between the tracks, kind of like a third rail but it's hidden in the ground and they use the normal overhead catenary power as well. Our trams in Adelaide run on 600 volts DC or Direct Current, using trams from Germany and Spain which are both the 100 and 200 series tram cars, respectively. Melbourne, by far, has the largest tramway system in Australia if not the world. The overall trackage on the system surpasses many tramways worldwide and is a jewel in the crown of public transportation in the state of Victoria. As long as there's major investment from the Commonwealth and the States and Territories with light railways/tramways, the future will be bright for trams in Australia. There are plans to expand some systems throughout Australia. Light rail has certainly made a triumphant return in the last decade or so which is very pleasing to see. It reminds to be seen, whether the system in Adelaide will expand or not. The current mindset from the Government, suggests it wouldn't be an expansion anytime soon. Roads are being given a higher priority. But in terms of other light rail systems in Australia, investment is mounting which is great to see. I hope this answers your question and gives an insight into the tramway scene in Australia. Regards, Caleb

Yes, it’s funny how times change isn’t ay? Worse decision they ever made was to pull up all those tram lines in 57 & 58. Bloody shame. By now our system would’ve been inline with Melbourne’s if they hadn’t removed it. The same in Sydney & Brisbane as well.
