I prefer this version to the only Aretha version : it somehow maintains the urgency of the original but the Aretha singing parts take the song into singing heaven with the genius variations. The mixing of their voices also works really well. This mix is GREAT! Don’t know if I ever will know if it’s better than Adele’s original , but there a spiritual ecstasy towards the end that is not present in the original. Is it ‘counterpoint’? This should be in a movie. People will sit up. Great work and choices. Note the scores for and against : says it all.

For her arrangement I feel her vocals are perfect. It has a very folksy feel with that heavy bass line. Her singing is not perfect and at times she seems to be singing at the very top of her range, but my gosh doesn't it convey the emotions of the song? Which, of course, was Aretha's greatest gift.
